Sun, 11-11-2012 - 7:19am

Yesterday whie at the mall with my dw, I sat down in a waiting area while she continued to shop.  Seated nearby was an eldely gentleman.  He was hunched over and struggleing  with a cane .   His hands werer shaking.I felt bad because I could sense his frutration.   I had to ask "can I help?"  He answered sure and explained he was aattempting to adjust the length of his walking cane. I made the ajustment for him. Then I said "I would not have been able to do this if i wasnt on my meds,I have Parkinson's."  He looked at my hands then said "your  n\ot shakeing.  THats cause of my meds.  I explained there are eso many to chose from.and that it took a while to find the right combination.  He had taken some   meds but was unable to continue for one resasosn or another.  I told him there were new  drugs arriving all the time.  Not happy with his doctor, he was considering a new neuro.  I told him to inquire about new drugs.  He shook my hand and  thanked me.  .

Great story Ruben! When I see someone struggling with what appears to me to be PD related I always have the urge to say something however it's seldom that I have the opportunity. It's great that you had that opportunity and were able to talk with the the person as well as assist him with his cane problem at the same time! That's a good deal Ruben!

I thought this was really cool!

My friend has Parkinson's and I have RA (Rheumatoid Arthritis)

Rarely do I ask for help but when someone offers it touches me.

We help each other...:)...
