Hi everyone. My husband was just diagnosed with Parkinson's and his doctor has recommended he start on an exercise program that includes Tai Chi. He says in recent studies it has been known to help with motor function and to help prevent falls with those who have Parkinsons. Has anyone here tried it and does it help? My husband doesn't want to spend the money for classes if there isn't some real benefit to it.

Hello and welcome to this board, Phyllis!

Sorry to hear about your husbands recent diagnosis with PD.  Just know that PD isn't a death sentence - uncomfortable - yes, and a lot of other stuff too...,  but a person can live with PD.

As for the Tai Chi in his exercise program, having never tried it, I wouldn't really know. However I've heard good things about it and exercise in just about any form is going to be good for anyone living with PD! Balance and coordination are issues we deal with daily. Having knowingly had PD for 20 years, I can assure you that and I believe anyone else who has PD will agree.

Good luck to you and your husband Hope you come here often, and please feel free to join in on any threads or discussions you see here!
