Fast Food Tied to Asthma, Eczema and Hay Fever in Kids

Do your kids suffer from asthma, eczema, or hay fever? You may be able to blame it on fast food according to this Health Day News article. "Kids who eat fast food three or more times a week are likely to have more severe allergic reactions, a large new international study suggests.

These include bouts of asthma, eczema and hay fever (rhinitis). And although the study doesn't prove that those burgers, chicken snacks and fries cause these problems, the evidence of an association is compelling, researchers say." MORE

All humans are gluten intolerant, just some humans are gluten allergic. This may come as a surprise statement to you. This is why many people have reactions to the food that they eat, but don't tie the two things together. As more and more of the population is becoming gluten allergic the issue of gluten intolerance is playing a bigger role in the foods we eat and our reactions to them. So this article does not surprise me at the least. Thank you for posting it as it is an important issue to consider while we try to improve the nutrition of our families. gentle hugs Harriette Thebuglady2

I have one son that cannot eat fast food it will send him right into an allergic reaction so bad he could land in the hospital. I notice that my girls will break out if they visit the local fast food joint.

No matter how healthy they say they are, they still use preservatives and other chemicals that are not truly healthy.

Three or more times a week of fast food is waaay too much. I won't pretend we haven't ever done it, but not frequently (and if we have done it, then we won't have fast food for at least a month). I wouldn't be surprised that much causes issues.

Fast food three times a week isn't good for anyone, imo. If a child already has a medical issue, not getting the proper nutrients would probably tend to make things worse.

It makes sense to me.  We rarely eat at fast food restaurants and when we do, it is hard to find food that is 'clean' enough for my son to eat it (no gluten).  It is hard to tell what is being put into some of those products, so if there is a sensitivity to certain foods, I can see how eating fast food (or eating out all together) can make it challenging for kiddos with allergies and sensitivities.
