Ok, I went to see about having my iud removed back in February because I had had it waaaaayyyyyy too long and my primary care doctor was uncomfortable with the idea that it was ok to leave it alone.

So, it had been about 6 weeks since I had had a period & the GYN did an FSH blood test (I am nearing 46)

I have NO idea why they told you that you can't get pregnant! That is nuts. You should use protection for at least a year after your last period. (best to use it for 2). You are not in post menopause until you have gone 12 months without a period. Even one drop of blood and the count starts all over.

I don't know. The first doctor did the blood test. The second doctor who has been practicing for YEARS just confirmed it when I went to see him. The lab report which I requested a copy of, actually says "no risk of pregnancy" in the comments section. But I will say the last two periods I have had have been terrible and I have been having night sweats like nobody's business.....
