Does anyone take HRT?

Do any of you take HRT? My doctor has suggested it and I'm on the fence about it. I'm just curious as to what you take, how long you've been on it, and what health risks your doctor has discussed with you about it.

Hi, Brenda.

I had a total hysterectomy 30 years ago and was almost immediately given a prescription for an HRT.  Premarin to be exact.  I was started out at a very high dose, but over the years was able to gradually reduce my dose.  About 3 years ago I stopped using it altogether.  As you can tell - I was on it for a long time!!!   I never had any problems using it.

If you decide to use any form of HRT, be sure to immediately let your doctor know if you have any kind of problem that might remotely be connected to using it.  As with most medications, it could take up to 3 months for you to begin to feel that you are actually benefiting from using it!  So, be patient!!

Please know that you are welcome here anytime; to vent (it really can help!); to ask questions; to share experiences; or to just hang out with other gals who understand and care.

Remember, there are NO dumb questions regarding menopause!

I still have all the parts so my doctor has prescribed Femhrt. It appears to be similar to the birth control pill. I'm going to give it a try to see if it helps.

I tried several otc and "natural" remedies but haven't really noticed much improvement. I have thought about just toughing it out but my doctor says to ask myself why when there are safe alternatives. lol

Sounds like your dr is a smart man. (or woman). Remember it can take up to 3 months to notice a difference, so hang in there! Let us know how it works!
