I have been experiencing incontinence and am wondering if it is a symptom of menopause.

I most certainly *can* be.  As our estrogen levels drop the tissues in that area of our body begin to lose moisture and atrophy.  The best thing we know of to help combat this issue is some form of estrogen replacement to be used topically in and around the vaginal canal.  This can be prescribed as a cream, a suppository, or a vaginal ring.  Please check out this page at our Menopause Oasis Web site for more details.  I have been using Premarin cream for years with great success.

Before taking hormones, try some simple Kegel exercises to strengthen your pelvic floor muscles. Hormones, even those available over the counter, should be discussed with your health care provider. They have side effects and are not recommended for everybody.
