Why are there vitamins for women and for men? Is there that big a difference or is it just a marketing gimmic?

Good question. Both my husband and I take a "High Stress Lifestyle" multi-vitamin, he has one Omega 3-6-9 and I have three Omega 3-6-9, he has one Calcium Magnesium, I take one-three depending on where I am on my personal calendar. It might be worth experimenting to see if there is a difference. Our vitamin/supplements are working quite well for us or I'd do the experiment myself.

That is something I have questioned for years, Cotbpatsy!!  As far as I can see the only thing that would make a difference if I wanted to use a multi-vitamin would be that my female body certainly does not need some of the things that a male body would need.....so I'd have to really do some reading to see what is in each one before I used it!! If you are seriously trying to understand the reasons behind "men" -vs- "women" vitamins -- and not just asking a rhetorical question -- check out this site.  It does a pretty good job of telling about the differences betewen the two.

Personally, I do not take a Multi-vitamin - they upset my system something fierce (all of 'em!!). I take the individual vitamins that I feel (after doing bunches of research!) work best for me.
