What have you found to be the best treatment for diarrhea? Should you just try to stay hydrated and let it run it's course or is there some sort of medication or food that works? I've heard that you should never use immodium as it just takes longer to heal. Is that true?

When the kids get diarrhea I still with the BRAT diet, bananas, rice, and toast, especially bananas because not only do they help "soak up" the excess moisture, they also add back in potassium that your body is losing quickly due to the diarrhea.   I know my ODD's pediatrician told us years ago when she was struggling with constipation to make sure NOT to feed her rice or bread specifically because it expands in the stomach sucking up excess water and making constipation worse.   Also, eliminate caffeine as its a natural diaretic.

And here is a recipe for a natural "sports drink" to use instead of spending the money on gatorade or others that are expensive and have added additives.
