How hot is it where you are?

With heat blanketing much of the US, this seems to be a "hot" topic right now. So how hot is it where you are and how are you dealing with it? Does the heat pose any major problems for you? How are you staying cool?

We live about 35 miles SW of Boston, and it's been a fairly uncomfortable summer so far. Lots of steamy, very warm days, hot days, and I'd rather put up with heavy coats and boots, thank you. I'm just not a hot weather fan and don't feel great if it's a steambath out there, so I admit to staying indoors most of the time in the summer. The sun hates me, anyhow! We are amazed how many folks here have NO air conditioning whatsoever, not even a small bedroom a.c. unit. That's the worst, that not being able to sleep while you're sweating in a damp bed. Yuck. I just have a couple of a.c. units and fans going all the time and indoors wear loose dresses to stay cool. Gotta do what you gotta do. I feel bad for my best friend in the St. Louis area, they are in a river valley so the heat and humidity sort of just sits there, summer this year has been just awful back there. I grew up there, I remember, but this year, awful.
