Well, there was the Tut's Trots "epidemic" that took our whole cruise ship out on our Nile Cruise way back in the early 90s... definitely food borne and even when one took care and only ate cooked foods and only drank bottle water (which we did), it still managed to hit most of us! Thank goodness the ship had these magic little pink pills which worked where lomotil did not! Our GP back in London had no clue what they were either so we were never able to find them again...

I have been hearing about this salmonella in the news the past week or so, since some of those affected are from Maryland. It seems the source of the outbreak has not been identified, yet.

I guess I have been very lucky, as I've never had any sort of foodborne illness.

Luckily I've not been hit by anything food related, but it seems like almost every month there is a story about food-borne illnesses or recalls of food products.

I suppose with these huge processing plants, and multiple sources, there is bound to be more of these pop up, but it makes me more and more inclined to grow my own food where I can!
