I have no idea what is wrong with me. SInce March 4th I have had a bad taste in my mouth, left chest pain, stomach pain and sometimes right upper pain. I went to the hospital and the did an EKG and blood work and all was normal. I went to the dr last week and he said that it was GERD. He gave me Dexilant which hasn't done much at all. He also thought it was my gallbladder. Did an ultrasound and it was all normal. Went back to the dr yesterday and they are running h pylori and celiac tests. I am at my wits end. I cant eat anything without having GERD symptoms. And i mean anything !!! :( I am so depressed and upset and I just want to know what the heck is going on . I also have Fibromyalgia and IBS. I have been a miserable pup for a month now. Can someone relate ?

Yikes, you've been through the gamut lately, haven't you?

Did the doctor say if the Dexilant should work right away or if it's something that you need to take for a while before you start seeing results? When will you have the results of these most recent tests?

Hoping you get some relief soon.

Wow! You really do have a lot going on. I am sorry you are feeling so bad. It is understandable that you are discouraged at this point.

I am not familiar with Dexilant, but from what I am reading on the internet it sounds like it should begin to help fairly quickly.

I hope your doctor can soon find out just what is going on and have you feeling better. Please keep us updated on how you are doing.

When I FINALLY got diagnosed with GERD about 15 years ago - lifetime of it - it required some not so fun tests at the hospital for the diagnosis to be made for certain.

Thanks so much for posting your perspective on this!

I am glad that you finally were able to get the drug that worked for you. I know it is really frustrating sometimes to have to try different drugs, but no two people are the same and those older drugs do work quite well for some people.

I agree with whom ever it was that said to get it checked out. Barretts esophagus doesn't have symptoms per say. Its the Gerd or relfux that causes symptoms. The Reflux causes the cellular changes in the esophagus. I was diagnosed with Barretts 2 years ago and am thankful! I now have the power to do everything and anything to prevent this cancer! I go back soon for another scope.

The endoscope is easy and painless. But it just might save your life! If your MD doesn't recommend it see a gastro. Dr.! My surgeon told me that just because the meds are helping doesn't mean the problem is gone. So please get it checked out.
