Kids and drinking

I started out drinking at a very early age with the blessings of my parents. We drank wine with Sunday dinner and I can't even remember how young I was. I was always allowed to have a sip of dad's beer or drink and loved it. As I got older my parents allowed me to drink at home just so I didn't drive. Once all my friends found out, my house was the hang-out and I felt like I was on top of the world as far as popularity. I moved out and kept up the free flow of drinking at my place but now I am going through a rough spot and all my good time friends are no where to be found. I have come to realize it wasn't me at all anyone was interested in. It was only the booze. I have to wonder what my life would be like now if my parents had been non-drinkers.

My parents were drinkers and I am a non-drinker. I decided early on I didn't like the way their lives revolved around a bottle so I didn't want to have any part of it. Remember, it is your life and you control it. You don't have to serve liquor to a friend. And if you can't get a friend to visit because you don't have booze then she's not really a friend. Join a church or gym or something and hang out with different types people. Don't start off serving them or enticing them to your home with booze. That way you'll know if it is you or the booze they are coming to see.
