Has it helped any? According to iVillage Health, a new study suggests it won't. "Contrary to some advertising claims, electronic cigarettes don't help people quit or cut down on smoking, a new study says.

Users of e-cigarettes inhale vaporized nicotine but not tobacco smoke. The unregulated devices have been marketed as smoking-cessation tools, but studies to date have been inconclusive on that score, the study noted." READ MORE

My son (fortyish) used the E-cigarette because he could use it in some places where, in his locality, smoking cigars and cigarettes was prohibited, e.g., restaurants.  In a little under a month he quit smoking because he lost the urge! This is certainly not a scientific finding but it is at least anecdotal evidence that it can work.

Dh quit smoking 14 months ago thanks to the e-cig, however, he is now addicted to THAT.  I think with the e-cig, the person becomes addicted to the oral censation that they got with regular cigarettes.  I honestly don't care as it's my dh's lungs that were my biggest concern as he only has 1 1/2 lungs anyway.
