Hello all.

Sadly this is a place I never hoped to be...I lost my mom on Monday, and I'm 3000 miles away from my Dad and the rest of my family.

Hi Becky,

I am so sorry for your loss, moms are real special people and no matter how old we get to be, it is hard to contemplate life without our moms.

I guess this board is one nobody wants to be on but I am real glad you found us and have somewhere to come for support.

Hi Josie and Promise,

I'm trying so hard to let go and I just cannot.

Hugs Becky! Its so normal to have the coulda/shoulda/wouldas after a death. They can eat us if we let them. Try to change to the more well yeah I coulda been there or done that but doesn't mean it would have changed a thing. Its beyond our control which is a hard thing to accept. Your mom knew how you felt about her and that is most important. Some find journaling, or writing letters to the person that died helpful. A way to say all the things you want to say but couldn't. Maybe that would help a smidge?

Its a major loss to you and will take quite some time to find all the happy memories you shared with her. Cry when you need to, but remember to drink your water so you don't get dehydrated! Hugs sweetie! There are online support groups for moms without moms too, and sometimes hospice (even though they didn't use it) offers grief groups which may be something you might be interested in. Remember that no matter what, you loved her and she loved you and you had some great memories over the years that you can share with your son.

Hey Becky,

we all go through the guilt bit but you know the thing we need to remember is that we make the right choices for the time that we make them.
