Is sharing the same spiritual beliefs important?

I'm of two minds here as I don't have "formal" religious beliefs and really don't like having others "push" their ideologies on me as a solution to my problems... But I do think being with others who have similar probelms is helpful, be it grief alone (not meaning to belittle that emotion) or more complex things like how to handle friends who stop coming by, or how to handle being alone in that house,

I think that it really depends on how you view religion and different belief systems. I do think that support groups offer valuable support for different things - whether it be grief counselling, support through illness, or family problems. It is comforting just to know that you are not alone going through whatever you are going through.
