I know it's a very hard topic, but have you ever had a conversation about dying and death with a terminal loved one? How do you bring it up, and what kinds of things do you talk about?

I had a talk with my dad about death when he was dying. It was so hard to hear him talking so matter of fact about it. He new it was inevitable and he was able to accept it. Somehow he put my mind at ease even though it was him going through it.

I have talked with my dad too and it is heart breaking but neccessary.  I am his durable power of attorney and will need to make medical decisions if he is unable and it will fall on me to handle arrangements and bills etc.  My mom is mentally ill and can't really function completely on her own so there is a lot of things to be taken care of.  It is painful but at least I know what he wants.
