My dad has bladder cancer

Already it has been a long journey.  He was peeing blood for about 2 weeks needed 3 blood transfusions totaling 12 pints and suffered a heart attack.  The tumor was removed and today he talked to the pathologist.   Normally they would remove the bladder but due to his heart condition and the fact that he has severe emphysema and advanced lung failure they don't want to risk surgery so he will be getting chemo.  I have no idea what to expect or what I can do to help him with side effects.  Also dealing with the fact that I am the only transportation and I have 4 kids and do in home daycare and my mom is bipolar and does not deal well with stress.  So yeah already it has been a long journey and I see miles and miles of agony ahead.  My dad is 80 and married my mom when I was 17 he has been a better father than my real dad ever was and I am not ready to say goodbye.  I lost my real father when I was 12 to liver/kidney failure so I know what this feels like and I don't want to do it again:(  Anyway glad I found a place to vent because my whole family is a little overwhelmed and I have to be the strong one.

I am so sorry you are dealing with this. Do you have anyone to help you at home (like a husband or friend)? You need to be sure to take care of yourself so you are able to continue to help out with your dad.

Keep us posted on how he is doing.
