I'm set for surgery in 8 days and am very nervous about how long till I can do bathroom duties like wiping on my own. I've been told by other people that have done it it was a "while" does anyone have information about this.

Could you be specific about which surgery you will be having?  I had breast reduction surgery 9 months ago and don't recall any difficulty.

There should be no problem with wiping after surgery. That is one thing I don't recall having a problem with. Although.... In connection with that, I did not take my stool softener directly after surgery and the anesthesia and the Percocet I took a few times, made me extremely constipated. To the point I was in severe pain/distress by day 5. This too shall pass, as they say, ha ha,  but it was a lesson learned. Not everyone has the problem after a surgery, but I know if I ever have any kind of anesthesia, I will know ~

Besides that, best of luck to you and keep us informed on how you make out and your recovery.  When is your surgery? ARe you excited, nervous, anxious? Is this something you have wanted for a long time? And is your husband behind you? I know, lots of questions, but just curious, plus it helps others to read about different feelings on this.

Take care!

What size does your doctor say you will be?  You must have been so uncomfortable, emotionally as well as physically.  Great job on the weight loss!!!

It is wonderful to hear how much your self image has changed!  Like you say, you still see that person in the mirror sometimes, but it is not something that constantly overwhelms you.

I had my surgery 5 years ago. I was 49 at the time and had wanted the surgery for years, like you. I was a 40DDD and am now a perfect 38C and I love them. My husband was afraid I think that I wouldn't have much left but he loves the generous and full handful i am now. Plus once he saw how happy I was, he was pleased also. I get that you are nervous. I almost backed out but I had so much encouragement from family and friends. And I am so glad I listened to them. Let us know f you ave any other questions as the day approaches! Nancy
