I was 49 when I had my BR, so I know how you feel!!! I got my PS's name from friends who had breast surgery. Unfortunately they both had breast cancer, but his name came highly recommended by both of them after their reconstruction surgeries. If you don't have anyone to ask around, check on the internet and make an appt. with someone who seems reputable. You should get a pretty good vibe from walking in the door, to the nurses to the PS. I know I did. Ask lots of questions, about what you can expect, how he does the surgery, how long you will be out, pain, recovery.... a few of the things I can think of right now. He should also have a book of before and after pictures you can see, most of them do. This really helps you understand just what goes on, what you may look like afterwards and your healing progress and then the final, amazing way you will look all healed up!! I had my surgery 4 years ago this week and I am still in awe of my perky girls. I went from a saggy, 40DDD to a 38C and love them!!
You might want to just talk to your doctor about this anyway, as she can also be a help if you need some referral letters. My gyn wrote a great letter to the PS and insurance concerning my pain and unhappiness with my large breasts, which was very helpful in getting it all okayed. I only had to pay a $30 copay for my surgery!!!
Good luck to you as you start this journey! Let us know when you have questions; lots of great information and support here!! And yes, now is the time to do this for YOU!!!
