Surgery Friday....a little freaked out..

Hi All! I am new here. I am 39 and a mother of an 8 year old daughter and an almost 3 year old son. I have wanted a BR for YEARS. I am 5'3 and 40DDD.. Since I have had my son my breasts have gotten even saggier and my posture and back are paying the price. I went for a consult about 4 years ago and the insurance did not pay....very discouraging. I recently went to my new Dr for my well check up and told her about my back pain and she suggested that I try again, she was very surprised the insurance had denied me. I have a new insurance company now so I decided to give it a shot. She referred me to a PS here in Fort Worth and the consult was very exciting. He explained the procedure and what to expect...they submitted paper work to the insurance and in less than 3 weeks they called me telling me I was approved! (Last Monday) Now I am scheduled for surgery this Friday. All this happened in less than a month, my head is spinning. The great thing is I don't have to pay even 1.00 out of pocket. I have absolutely NO excuse not to get this done. I am a bit nervous, however. I guess it is normal.

My doctor told me in the consult that I would need about two

Hi Champagne

Wow, just 2 more days until your surgery...exciting!

I wanted to stop in and let everyone know that I can now say I am 100% healed up. NO more pain, the holes have closed. I feel GREAT! The first 3 weeks were rough however I did not get to rest as much as I really think I should have. My PS said a couple days off work would be fine. I went back to work exactly 5 days post-op and made it through OK but in a perfect world I would have like to have taken a full 2 weeks off work. I think it may have helped with the healing time also but there is no telling.

I am scheduled for November 4 but was told by my PS that I needed to take 2 weeks off work even though I just have a desk job.

Thanks Barb, you are so sweet!
Thanks for that link, I am going to show my daughter tonight...looks like fun!

As for your fungal infection, what I have been going through is nothing compared to that. Once you get your BR, you will do wonderful. I hope what I posted did not scare you into having second thoughts. I am VERY glad I did this!

Hope you have a great week!

Thanks Nancy. I was at a low point last Wednesday.. In hindsight now I know it was because I was PMS'ing LOL I think that explains some of the extreme emotions (out of character for me) and probably the extra pain. My breasts are always tender right before that time of the month...

Anyway, this week I feel like a new person. :) The darn hole is still there under my right breast but it does not hurt anymore. I am keeping it clean and dry like the Dr instructed and I know it will heal when it is ready. I am an impatient person so I want to be all back to normal in record time. I am now able to sleep pretty normal..on my sides. I do not have any problems sleeping. I think I will be back to my normal self in no time. I took the remaining surgical tape off my nipples last night...they healed up nicely. One side seems a little off but maybe in time that will get better.. In any case they look so good, what a difference from the floppy things I used to have! Hopefully this hole heals up soon so I can go bra shopping already!

Hope you all have a great week!

Aww, It's ok, we all get down at times. You just want to be back to the new normal and you will. It takes time. You might have overdone it, and that is the cause for your pain and not healing as well. But seriously, we all go through this some way. It is hard to not overdo it as you start to feel better and want to celebrate the new you. Just take it easy now and really listen to your body and your doctor. I had a hole open up but it did eventually close. Just take good care to keep it clean and dry and you should be good. You sound alot like me, always positive, and then when you feel down, it really hits hard. Deep breath and a hug from that amazing daughter of yours and tomorrow is a new day!! Before you know it, you will be wearing a sexy new Victoria Secret bra and feeling like a million bucks!!!

One day at a time!! Stay in touch and have a good weekend!

Nancy :)
