I am just curious as to why you had your breast size altered (either reduction or augmentation).

In addition to this, I'd like to know if it changed how you feel about yourself in any way.

I have not personally had it done, but I have friends who have gone or are planning to go both ways with regard to breast enhancement.  One is thinking about a reduction and it will literally change her life.  They cause back pain, neck pain, shoulder issues, and she sometimes even has trouble breathing.  People often speak to her breasts rather than her face, and she suffered from rashes and discomfort pretty much 24 hours a day.  She wears ONLY oversized T-shirts.  The reduction will be like being unshackled for her.  It is a difficult decision for her because she's the type of person who is petrified of doctors and can only go to a dentist that offers sedation dentistry.  But she's weighing the positives and the negatives and can already see herself living pain free!

Now for the other side...many of my friends are mothers, and motherhood took its toll on their bodies.  My best friend is actually going under the knife soon.  She's had 3 consultations.  She started with a solid C cup, had and breastfed 3 kids (youngest is almost 5), and now she can stuff them into a B cup, but they are incredibly saggy.  So much so that when she is laying on her back, she jokes that her nipple can touch her armpit!  During her consultations, she explained that she just wanted a lift, but all 3 plastic surgeons told her that after the lift, she would barely have enough breast tissue left to fill a training bra.  So now for her, it's just a decision of implant size.  I believe it will be life-altering for her as well.  I can't say that if after I have kids, I end up in her situation, I would do it any differently.

Then there are friends who got implants just to boost their size.  My personal observation is that it is a huge confidence booster.  They get more attention from men and have more fun.

I honestly think that it really depends on the individual.  Everyone has different reasons for the things they do, and can change their minds too.  One of my closest friends beat breast cancer about 3 years ago, and she swore she would just leave her chest bare.  But that is an incredibly emotional decision.  She ultimately decided to have reconstruction, and although it was very painful, I don't think she regrets it at all.
