CNN feels sorry for Steubenville rapists?!

Maybe I read this wrong but did anyone see this and did you feel that CNN felt sorry for these rapists that ruined the lives of a girl and her family? No mention of how the girl's life was ruined-only how the lives of  "these two young men — who had such promising futures, star football players, very good students" was ruined. What do you think?

The Candy Crowley / Poppy Harlow discussion seemed fairly typical since the defendants were juveniles.  I think it's hard for people to see 16 year old boys as monsters, especially when their remorse seems genuine.

Did it come across as thought they had more compassion for the defendants than the girl who was raped? In that particular piece, yes, they did seem to.

I did find a quote from the girls mother and even she has pity for these boys:

The victim was not in the courtroom when the ruling was read, but her mother gave a statement after the judge's ruling.

"Human compassion is not taught by a teacher, a coach or a parent. It is a God-given gift instilled in all of us," the victim's mother said after court was adjourned. "You displayed not only a lack of this compassion, but a lack of any moral code."

The woman said her daughter will persevere and move on, adding that she has pity for Mays and Richmond.
