I think everyone has to be careful in what they watch, not just SA victims. There was a time in my life in which I couldn't tolerate hearing anything about SA, even just having someone say words associated with it were too much. Then there were times I needed to read or watch everything I could as

I can imagine that it may be traumatizing for someone to watch where the episode has similarities to their own trauma. As for acting as a deterrent - I don't think so. Until I saw this questions I wouldn't have even considered the effect a show like this would have on sexxual abuse/assault victims - I think that is serves to desensitize the population to a certain extent.
