Pain, Suffering and Positive Outlook

The Boston Marathon Bombings news coverage have been both difficult and inspiring.

I am saddened by the horrible acts of violence yet inspired when individuals who have lost limbs are mainting a positive outlook and are thankful to be alive.

Traumatic events like the bombings can create a sense of uneasiness and fear that can be heightened in individuals that are already prone to experiencing intense anxiety and mistrust.

It's a scary world we live in and bad things seem to happen more frequently.  Yet I find hope in people that can live through terrible things and continue on with a positive perspective.

How have the bombings impacted you and your sense of safety and journey towards healing?

I probably need to stay away from the news. I have been watching the stories of the survivors and am amazed at how strong they all seem and had been feeling inspired when suddenly the story of the three kidnapped women came to light. I feel a sense of panic and terror over their stories. I was abused over many years by the same person. I wasn't chained, tied up or trapped but still had to see the same face over and over every day. I don't know how those women made it.
