Reporting an assault

I have been reading stories of the military sex abuse scandal and I don't know how the victims had the strength to come forward and report it. I never told because I was too scared. I pretended nothing happened and tried to go on. I feel it takes great strength to come forward like so many people have. Thank you everyone who has because you encourage and strengthen me.

From what I understand disclosures in the military can comes with a variety of difficulties.  I think anyone who reports their experiences, whether militry or civilian,  should be considered courageous.

I also wanted to say that I'm sorry that you were not able to come forward and had to sit with what happened to you all alone and somehow try to just get through the best you could.

I completely agree that they are very courageous. That is not to say that those who didn't come forward aren't. It is a very difficult decision.

Cathee

I agree that it is a very difficult decision to decide what to do.
