Sadness over the Shooting in Connecticut
| Sun, 12-16-2012 - 4:38pm |
The first post I tried to write seemed to vanish into an error message.
I've found myself with a great deal of sadness over the recent school shooting in Connecticut. I used to live there, not in the town where it happened but in the state. My brother also is there in CT with his family. They are all safe and I'm thankful for that. Yet I still have all this sadness and my heart breaks for those that lost loved ones.
In addition to the sadness my PTSD hyper-vigilence seems to be in high gear as well.
How are you all doing?
I had to turn the news off. I don't know how the parents are coping. I don't know if I could live through something like that. It is so absolutely horrible.
It makes me scared for my children to leave the house anymore.
I will admit when I was at the mall over the weekend, I was on edge after what happened in Oregon. It really stinks to have this much fear and not have it be that irrational.

***TRIGGERING***
Dealing with the VIOLENCE in the world has been very difficult for me personally.
It just brings up the past kwim?
I lost my friend...:(...she was murdered and I have been trying to cope/deal with it, but it's been so hard.
Just recently LOST another friend, he died three days before Christmas...it has just been so overwhelming.
ALL these other things happening just makes you not want to read or watch the news...kwim?
:(...

I can only speak for myself but talk about whatever you need to talk about. You put up your trigger warning and people can be responsbile for their own self-care. My tolerance is fairly high for reading stuff so please don't feel like you need to filter what you say.
That being said I'm sorry that you are deaing with so many losses and it does make it difficult to watch the news not knowing what other stressful thing might appear on the screen.
