Back with lots of questions :)

Hi there!

I'm Juno, back on SBD after lots of struggles. I first started in March 2010 and lost 41 kg (mostly excess pregnancy weight). I managed to maintain the loss until last year when I mysteriously and inexplicably gained 16 kg. I have been to loads of doctors who poked and prodded me but didn't find anything really wrong with me, so I have decided to forget about the doctors and go back on SBD full-time!

So if anybody around here has any time, I have a couple of questions:

(a) I haven't checked out the forums for a long time, and now that they have been changed, I can't find the links to all the information (there were links to what to eat, what not to eat, modifications, special cases, etc.) Could somebody please point me in their direction? Thanks!

(b) Does anybody have any experience with SBD during pregnancy? DH and I are trying, and I would like to maintain a healthy lifestyle during pregnancy to avoid the drastic weight gain I experienced last time.

Thanks a lot and good luck to us all! :D

Hi Juno and welcome back. iVillage changed platforms a while back and we have experience some serious technical issues with the database since then. I apologize for the inconvenience you may be having.

I don't have any advice with SBD and pregnancy but do want to wish you good luck. :-)

Hi Juno, welcome back to the SBD WOE.  I was on Phase 2ish during my last pgcy (2010/2011) and only gained 5 lbs total and delivered a healthy 8.5 lb. baby.  (I was about 40 lbs overweight at the time.)  I say Phase 2ish b/c while I mostly stuck with P2 foods, I did eat some P3 foods that I craved, mostly fruits like figs and pineapples.  I was under careful watch of my OB and she was aware that I was on the SBD throughout my pgcy, she was actually very encouraging about it as long as my baby was growing appropriately.   So it is doable, just make sure you let your OB know about it so they are aware.  I also did a lot of walking throughout pgcy (parks, beach, etc.) and that helped as well.  Good luck!

Hi,  As Karla mentioned, when iVillage changed platforms we lost all of our information. I will attempt to recreate it but it was an accumulation of over 8 years of information. To get you started I would suggested buying the book or borrowing from a library to get all the basic information and then if you have additional questions, I'm here to help. Good luck!
