Popcorn is a snack that you can enjoy starting on Phase 2 of the South Beach Diet. It counts as a grain serving. Look for air-popped, plain, trans-fat-free microwavable, or stove-top popcorn made with canola oil, and try to limit it to 3 cups popped per serving. For added flavor, sprinkle with a little Parmesan cheese or with Mexican or other flavored seasonings (no added sugars) for a spicy, satisfying snack.
