Starting week 2 of Phase 1 - Have some questions pls!

Hi Everyone,

I am just about to start on week 2 of Phase 1. Here are a few facts. I am a mom of two boys 2 and 4 years old. I have been holding on to that "last 15-20 lbs" ever since I had kid one. I'm 5'3" and my starting weight was 146.8. I'm down to 143.8 right now so exactly 3 lbs in the first 6 days. Well for some reason ever since about day 1 I'm having bloating, cramping, off and othere issues

I agree with Joy. When I read thru your menu's my first thought was "Way low on veggies". You should be having a minimum 4.5 cups of veggies (of which 1/2 cup can be beans) EVERY SINGLE DAY. You should also be having 2 servings of dairy.

Welcome! It's not unusual to feel bloated and crampy the first week or so on South Beach. Hang in there and like everyone has said add more veggies. Congratulations on the 3 pounds gone and keep up the good work.

without being too TMI. I know that I'm definitely getting WAY more fiber because I used to not be regular at all I would go number 2 about once every 3-4 days on average. Now i'm going almost every day.

That was just a sample menu. I eat celery sticks, broccoli, cucumbers, peas in my salad. I also made those egg quiches recipe were you cook them ahead and put them in fridge. My recipe had bell peppers, broccoli, onion, zucchini, etc and I eat those for breakfast a lot 2 of them usually. So I think I'm doing okay on Veggies - which could be why I'm having all the bloat and what not.

You're right that the problem could be too much fiber from the added veggies. Also, peas are a phase 2 veggie. They are starchy and to high on the glycemic index for phase 1.
