Dyk Meg, that's awesome that you made it to 2.5 nursing your son! Good for you!

dyk but as much as I respect my husband, he doesn't get much of a say in how long I nurse Isabelle. I think that's a very special relationship between mother and child, and no one else should interfere or get a say in the matter.

Dyk that being said, if YOU are ready to wean, cold turkey is a hard way to do it. You could start by just night weaning. Dr Jay Gordon has a popular method. During the day you can also limit frequency and length and nursing sessions. By easing him into weaning it will be less traumatic.

Dyk I'll get off my soap box now, lol. This is just such an important issue to me.

Dyk baby center has a great extended nursing board if you want some other helpful info.

Dyk thanks for the support, I took a long hot shower, had some food and spent time in the garden and felt a bit better
Dyk I should have expected it , I have actually been nursing for 4.5 years ( my daughter self weaned just before my son was born )
Dyk he was down to nursing mainly in the middle of the night ( comfort or when he wouldn't eat dinner ) and the odd day when grumpy after a sleep . I was getting sore too and a bit irritated which I think where signs the milk wasn't there much anymore but I had always hoped he would self wean when he was ready
Dyk thanks for the link I will check it out .

dyk, has anyone taken pole fitness classes?

dyk, today's Groupon is a 10 class pack for $78 and I'm tempted

dyk, but I wonder how cheesy they are?

dyk nope, I've never taken pole classes. But for $78 it's a good way to try it out. I just wonder how intense it is?

dyk, that's a good point, the website claims that they are for all fitness levels & have basic beginner classes that you take until you can move up

dyk, I think I'll give them a call to see how true that is

dyk, between boxing & kettlebells I have a fairly good core base building up, but I winder if it's enough.
