dyk, my body was not interested in running...although I did manage a bit of a jog for most of the race...which turned into a walk

dyk, after mile 11 walking was barely happening, but I forced myself to do intervals of walking and what was probably jogging...until around mile 12 when that turned into a flat out walk

dyk, and at mile 13 I broke down in tears...I could not fathom walking one. more. step.

dyk, and it was an UGLY cry...this will obviously be the one finish line photo I managed to get this year.

dyk, I finished...probably thanks to the woman that came up behind me, patted me on the back/pushed me forward, and said something along the lines of knowing that I can make it
Past Races:

-BAA 10k, 6/26/11 (1:04:52, wanted to be under an hour...)

dyk, I should probably clarify - my information was part of a lecture given to me by a 5 year old...corrected by a 7 year old

dyk, my friend is home schooling them...history is not a topic either child finds very interesting. Obviously.

dyk, I've never broken down like that before - and even the running part was not like me at all

dyk, even when I fail to train, I can pull out a respectable time.

dyk, I think I was just DONE - physically, mentally, and emotionally

dyk, also, I'm pretty sure this was my body's way of telling me that it's a little sick of the abuse and maybe I should try training a little before my next half (yes, I'm putting myself through this again)

dyk, I think you can definately finish in under 4 hours!

dyk, your 3 miles in 55 minute pace puts you right at 4 hours, so you will obviously only improve between now and the race

dyk, plus, most 'normal' people end up running faster at races...the crowd, the excitement, the adrenaline, etc

dyk, other fun things the children said this weekend:

'i am not a peewee'

'you butted me'

'you know it's much faster to drive 13 miles'

'what took you so long? the start was RIGHT THERE'

'mommy can I have some jelly beans?' 'yes' 2 packs later child is bouncing off the wall and I scream 'THOSE WERE SPORTS BEANS!'

And by far my favorite of the whole weekend, thanks to the 5 year old (who SCREAMED this)

"mommy why is that man warring a tutu? Is he a fairy?"

Elizabeth,
DYK I'm worried about you, now.
DYK you're finding things that children say "fun"?

DYK that sounds like a pretty rough run.
DYK I'm glad you made it to the finish, though.

Jennie,
DYK I think your knee is going to be just fine. I think it's just your body's way of telling you to slow down.
DYK you are doing great!

Jennie and Jennifer,

DYK help!
DYK Eric started Vyvanse, the stimulant ADHD med, on Saturday.
DYK he's been a crazy nut ever since.
DYK the doctor told us if it didn't work, we could take him from 20mg to 40mg/day.
DYK did either of you see a huge increase in activity when your kids started taking it?
DYK we gave Eric one yesterday, and then went to a Yankees game. He was out.of.control. I was on the verge of tears last night.
DYK today he was doing okay, but got in trouble in the kids' worship at church (which has never happened); he was great until he saw Abby later in the afternoon. He was simply out of control (again).
DYK I'm going to give it a couple more days. I don't want to increase the dosage, because if 20 mg is doing this to him, what is 40 mg going to do?
DYK I just wanted some opinions before calling the MD.
DYK thanks.
