dyk so little story

dyk we ran into some friends at the beach when we went the 2nd tiem

dyk and the babies that were with me (Evie and Ellie) were playing wtih 2 dump trucks and shovels that THEY had brought

dyk friend/husband and their 3 kids were leaving soon and I asked the husband if we could borrow the dump trucks for the babies

dyk keep in mind, I've know them for years and watch their kids ALL the time

dyk husband said no, b/c they were "new" and he's sort of wierd about new stuff and like to keep it to themselves

dyk it really sort of shocked me that was his answer -- and then he had his older girls round up the toys, including taking the two plastic dump trucks from the babies.

dyk and so this is the family that wanted me -- for free of course -- to take family portraits for them the way I did for our other friends a few months back

dyk and guess what -- the answer is now no.

dyk I am simply done with selfishness and I realized the short little experience caught me so off guard b/c the people we have REALLY surrounded ourselves with are selfless, giving, caring and this man is obviously not and I have no room in my life now (and really not ever actually) for people who want to take and not give.

dyk I didn't say anything or comment my shock when he said no b/c they were new and he was wierd about anything new because when you ask someone to borrow something they may say no and I can accept no as an answer

dyk but it did skew my view of him as a parent, as a giver, etc, and surprised me

dyk I was telling Sean and he was surprised too and said, I probably would hav ejust told you to keep them! lol

dyk and about 99% of our friends and family would have SUGGESTED we hang onto them for the babies

dyk, people are so weird sometimes

dyk, I probably would have just let the babies play with them...toys are toys, especially beach toys

dyk, I'm glad your answer is no for the pictures...tell him that your camera is new and you only take pictures of family!

dyk, I've been doing a lot of thinking (and talking, but mostly thinking)

dyk, in fact, almost the whole 13.1 miles on Sunday was spent thinking about my work situation

dyk, I've realized that one of the main reasons I've stayed for so long is that I like the people that I work with, internal and especially external. I mean I have built up so much here that part of me thinks it would be dumb to just walk away from it all and start over again.

dyk, and my work friendships have carried me through the tough times...they KNOW how it is, what the problems are, and quite frankly I spend 100 hours a week with them sometimes

dyk, I need to cut ties. For now at least. I have decided that until I find a new job I can no longer be "out side of work friends"

dyk, the people I work with are great, but it's got to the point that my work and personal lives have blended into one...and I'm beginning to think that had that not been the case, I would have left when I had a chance in September. But I'm to loyal...and I have to realize that if we are really friends, it will extend past me leaving.
