Helen Hunt Jackson- September Poem

The goldenrod is yellow,
The corn is turning brown,
The trees in apple orchards
With fruit are bending down;

The gentian’s bluest fringes
Are curling in the sun;
In dusty pods the milkweed
Its hidden silk has spun;

The sedges flaunt their harvest
In every meadow nook,
And asters by the brookside
Make asters in the brook;

From dewy lanes at morning
The grapes’ sweet odors rise;
At noon the roads all flutter
With yellow butterflies–

By all these lovely tokens
September days are here,
With summer’s best of weather
And autumn’s best of cheer.

dyk Sean has his doc appt this morning

dyk he is starting a new anti-depressant (that I've never heard of)

dyk and in one month he will add to that an anti-seizure med this is used off lable as a mood stabilizer

dyk and so we have officially begun the bi-polar spectrum treatment plan

dyk Sean told me the doc told him that it'll be about 3 weeks before he sees full effect and I want to be supported but instead I blurted out, "THREE MORE WEEKS???"

dyk um, I Mean, great!

dyk, i saw 31 new posts and my immediate thought was that Jennie was back!

dyk I thought the same thing when I saw 800+ notifications in my email folder for the board

dyk but that was after 2 weeks, not just over night

dyk although there have been months when we didn't have that many all month

dyk thanks, Jennie, for coming back!

dyk Sean is 31 and we're still working out his meds (ADHD/anxiety/depression/mood instability)

dyk turns out, as he shared with me last night -- and I better not see a mention of this on facebook, his doc thinks he is suffering from one of the disorders on the bi-polar spectrum -- which would explain why we've not found anything that works for his depression ---

dyk bi-polar is a whole other type of major mood disorder

dyk and it is not entirely uncommon to see bi-polar in conjunction with idiopathic autism -- which we had at one point already discussed with Abi's doc and he had said yes, he noted the symptoms, he observed it as well, but that bi-polar was a very BIG diagnosis to give to someone SO YOUNG (even though symptoms go back to well before 3yrs old) without a family history.....

dyk and that would also explain the cycling we see in Abi and why her anxiety is BARELY in check and her moods are STILL not stable even though she is, in my opinion, a bit heavily medicated for being 7 yrs old -- though without them right now, she'd not be making it day to day

dyk so this should be interesting as Sean switches over to a totally different type of treatment for his struggles

dyk way behind on this one, but Mark has some mood instability that he traced to being border-line hypoglecemic

dyk not enough to show up on blood work, but enough to notice through monitoring what he eats

dyk as long as he stays away from sugar, and ESPECIALLY hfcs, he does pretty well

dyk one

dyk, yes that was I

dyk, the thing about using ivillage on my phone is that I can only see who's posting, not who they reply to

dyk, maybe I should look into the app - right now I just use the website in the mobile version

dyk I read posts in my email

dyk I only get who posted, not who they posted to, also

dyk ROFL I have never to my knowledge set anything on fire

dyk but I did make sure she knew she had created the lunch time lows and it was to be corrected immediately -- I wrtote on the card -- which is color coded and laminated -- do not deviate from the protocols on the reverse side of this card for any reason without verbal or written consent from the emergency contacts

dyk and if she deviates -- well, she will only once.

dyk can't not reply about the whole school nurse/Alicia situation

dyk lots of thoughts in my head --

dyk is she a real nurse or just someone trained in first aid filling a needed hole at the school

dyk if she has a diabetic child, what doesn't she get about monitoring and treating

dyk does she think all diabetic children are the same, or that she knows better than a child's healthcare provider

dyk has she never heard the words law and suit together as a compound word

dyk vent over now

dyk hoorah. lol Wonder what results they are seeing? LOL

dyk I sure hope as I continue reading that I find out what kinds of results they saw in Abi's evals/testings

dyk and that the doc didn't spontaneously combust during Abi's appointment

dyk doc agreed that the history and the patterns are condusive with bipolar disorder

dyk he also strongly urged us to wait and be patient with him and let him adjust some meds before we even considered going down the bipolar med road

dyk and that he wouldn't prescribe Abi anything in that class being only 54lbs

dyk he siad the med regimine we used worked once before -- consecutively, albiet for a short period of time, so that means it may work again with some tweeks

dyk and her vitals show that since we started these meds at current doses, she has gained 8lbs and grown 2inches, so she has had a growth spurt in the past 8 weeks.

dyk sounds like things went well, and growth spurts are always a good thing

dyk until all the clothes don't fit anymore

dyk and it sounds like no calls to the fire dept were required, which is an even better thing

dyk Abi's IQ suggests she should be making straight A's lol

dyk oh, and today she came home detailing the events of 9-11

dyk and fixating on the death and flames part

dyk here comes another email to the school... why would you without letting me know? tell a slightly paranoid, overly anxious, OCD child the DETAILS of a terrorist attack with death and flames and tragedy? REALLY?

dsyk she's SEVEN

dyk why would they give that much detail to ANY 7yo

dyk I'd likely have to have Mark handle that one because I might totally go off on the teacher

dyk he's let her/him know how totally wrong what they did was while making them smile and think they were being complimented

dyk it would sink in later, and they'd realize how wrong they were and apologize for being so stupid

dyk and maybe even thank him for helping them see the error of their ways

dyk Mark is the diplomat in the house
