Helen Hunt Jackson- September Poem

The goldenrod is yellow,
The corn is turning brown,
The trees in apple orchards
With fruit are bending down;

The gentian’s bluest fringes
Are curling in the sun;
In dusty pods the milkweed
Its hidden silk has spun;

The sedges flaunt their harvest
In every meadow nook,
And asters by the brookside
Make asters in the brook;

From dewy lanes at morning
The grapes’ sweet odors rise;
At noon the roads all flutter
With yellow butterflies–

By all these lovely tokens
September days are here,
With summer’s best of weather
And autumn’s best of cheer.

dyk We are now pescatarians!

dyk We will only eat steaks out for fancy occassions.

dyk I'm so happy Fred agreed to this.

dyk We will consume what meat items we have.

dyk I could easily live without meat, I think

dyk but I couldn't replace it with fish because I don't like enough types and the ones I do are the pricey ones

dyk and I don't think peanut butter, nuts and cheese are the best sole sources of protein

dyk the pyschologist told me that Abi will qualify for the special education program -- GREAT NEWS

dyk we have a 504 meeting to get some of the smaller environmental pieces (classroom seating/survival kit use/extra time for work) set into place and then her IEP will have the larger issues -- measurable goals -- and set up therapy session in school and the resource class time she'll have

dyk we are also going to request and really push for transportation as a related service -- we cannot put her on a regular ed bus -- not yet. We have a bit more maturing to do before she can handle that.

dyk I'm sure my posting to old posts is getting annoying

dyk but there's no way a recap to 880+ would have worked

dyk so glad to hear that Abi will qualify for the program

dyk good luck with the transportation

dyk it may even be resolved before I get to the end of

dyk the nurse -- - we have made great strides with her -- Jen let me handle the communication as we though keeping the mom-emotional-aspect of it low would be best in the beginning

dyk the school nurse is a registered nurse -- as in completed graduated nursing school

dyk Mark sounds like me -- Sean put it this way to a friend, "my wife can tell you to go F--- yourself, and you will and then thank her."

dyk LOL My mom heard that (edited) and said that I have been like that since before I could talk -- I just did it with a "look"

dyk earlier this year, my dad wanted to go another couple rounds with me over this stupid lawyer he overpaid for to handle my student loans that got sold, changed, unconsolidated... etc etc

dyk and so we were in the kitchen and he was saying how I owed him (he paid the lawyer with me vehemently rejecting the idea) 1/2 the lawyer's fees

dyk I let him say his peace, waiting, listening quietly and my mom and Sean were in the kitchen with us

dyk when he was done, I sucked in a deep breath

dyk and my mom disappeared out the front door and Sean darted out to the garage

dyk LOL and then I said what I had to say and I've not heard one bit about that stupid lawyer since

dyk I can't live without meat either

dyk we eat pork chops, bacon, turkey, ground beef, venison, I've had alligator, rabbit but never snake -- no opportunity

dyk I'd eat just about any meat you put in front of me

dyk the other day I was eating turkey sausage and Sean came in and asked me what I was eating--

dyk just to be snarky I said, "Duck sausage"

dyk there are some of you that are lost and some of you that are snickering

dyk Sean snickered.
