Helen Hunt Jackson- September Poem

The goldenrod is yellow,
The corn is turning brown,
The trees in apple orchards
With fruit are bending down;

The gentian’s bluest fringes
Are curling in the sun;
In dusty pods the milkweed
Its hidden silk has spun;

The sedges flaunt their harvest
In every meadow nook,
And asters by the brookside
Make asters in the brook;

From dewy lanes at morning
The grapes’ sweet odors rise;
At noon the roads all flutter
With yellow butterflies–

By all these lovely tokens
September days are here,
With summer’s best of weather
And autumn’s best of cheer.

dyk she tried to get my mom to make her one this morning -- and my mom told her to wait for Jen-Jen's

dyk nothing like being in a job you hate -- knowing you gave up one that would have made you happy. And it could cause him to resent not only the job, but the spouse.

dyk jennifer, that was my advice too!

dyk for hard boiled eggs, this always works:

Put eggs in deep pan, cover to at least an inch above the eggs in cold water
bring to a boil
Once the gess come to a boil, turn off the heat and let the egss sit for 10-12 minutes, depending upon how done you want then (I usually set the timer for 10, then return to the kitchen to take them out so they are probably in for 11)
Put eggs in ice water for at least 2 minutes, or until cool.
