Helen Hunt Jackson- September Poem

The goldenrod is yellow,
The corn is turning brown,
The trees in apple orchards
With fruit are bending down;

The gentian’s bluest fringes
Are curling in the sun;
In dusty pods the milkweed
Its hidden silk has spun;

The sedges flaunt their harvest
In every meadow nook,
And asters by the brookside
Make asters in the brook;

From dewy lanes at morning
The grapes’ sweet odors rise;
At noon the roads all flutter
With yellow butterflies–

By all these lovely tokens
September days are here,
With summer’s best of weather
And autumn’s best of cheer.

dyk here was the day with Abigail:

she had her meds at 6:30

and they never seemed to kcik in

she picked up LExi repeatedly

after being told not to

dumped puizzles

scratched Dek'an's face

interrupted

snuck food

stashed food

left dishes on the table after being asked to clear them

argued

moved way too fast in everything that she did

wrote hate notes to Deklan

got in Dek's way to get Jadyn's attention

tried to hoard seashells and demand I buy them at Bucees

insisting to the point of being beligerent that we call her ARiel b/c she WAS a mermaid

dumped out all the blocks, refused to clean them up, wasn't sympathetic or apologetic when my sister tripped on the blocks

we found an ice cream bar she must've shoved under the couch when she was at my mom's TWO WEEKS ago and she lied about putting it there

(she's the only one that eats them)

she ran out onto the dock withut her life jacket

had to be told 4 times to come back off the dock

crossed thge street without looking

twice

had unkept hair

changed her clothes about 4 times

refused to help clean up

when it was time to go

hid from me

more stoimping and muttering under her breath

didn't clean up her lunch plate and drink

argued some more

didn't react at all to me crying hysterically to Sean even tbhough she walked in

ignored me when I talked to her

underresponsive to discipline after she ignored me AGAIN

threw things off her bed

stripped off all her clothes

(we're up to 4pm now)

came out of her room repeatedly even though she'd been told to stay in there

in her room she kicked the walls repeatedly

changed clothes some more

started a hoarding pile of papers (no idea where she had THOSE hidden in her room)

came out and asked me if I liked her outfit and was it okay for school (no it wasn't -- ballerina outfit -- duh)

acted surprised when she was sent back to her room

ATE DINNER (cereal -- 3 bowls)

was sent back to her room -- she wandered into the living room and started playing

um...

then she came out and we had the "outside" conversation

bedtime snack and book -- she threw food on the floor

in bed she pretended to be asleep yet was talking to bother Deklan

I went in she told me what huh? I was sleeping, oh I must've been sleep talking

before I even SAID ANYTHING

I moved Dek and by 8:00 (2 HOURS after her sleep meds and with NO afternoon ADHD meds) she was asleep

two positives of the day: 1) she ate what we gave her without opposition and arguing and 2) she went to bed without major event with no books and no snacks

DYK if it makes you feel any better, 75% of your list you just made about your day with Abi fits my typical day with Eric.

DYK it kind of scared me to make that realization.

DYK congratulations to everything for your son!

DYK that's an amazing deal on the house. Was it in foreclosure or anything like that?

DYK and last night, I did look for exit 110. Wow. It's a beautiful area, but I imagined you driving from there to your work exit.

DYK I had never heard of a wishing well until I moved to the NY/NJ area.

DYK weddings and showers here are very different from the way they are in the south.

DYK I love the wishing well idea, though!

DYK last night was my high school's 30th reunion.

DYK I saw the event on FB, but it didn't really occur to me until someone emailed me yesterday to see if I was going.

DYK obviously, I wasn't.

DYK I can't wait to see the pictures, though!
