Helen Hunt Jackson- September Poem
The goldenrod is yellow,
The corn is turning brown,
The trees in apple orchards
With fruit are bending down;
The gentian’s bluest fringes
Are curling in the sun;
In dusty pods the milkweed
Its hidden silk has spun;
The sedges flaunt their harvest
In every meadow nook,
And asters by the brookside
Make asters in the brook;
From dewy lanes at morning
The grapes’ sweet odors rise;
At noon the roads all flutter
With yellow butterflies–
By all these lovely tokens
September days are here,
With summer’s best of weather
And autumn’s best of cheer.

DYK I don't think they had a good turnout at all for this one; the 10th was their largest ever.
dyk sometimes I do it well, sometimes I completely fly off the handle...
dyk but then until 50yrs I don't care again.... and then I just want to see who's still alive. HAHA
dyk it's perfect -- and I think there is some paint left in the garage from the professional painters that did the house before we moved in --
dyk Sean's going to look and I can paint the wall tomorrow
dyk pics in a bit
dyk I am staying home from small group tonight
dyk we all are actually, the coleader is going to handle things today
dyk Abi pushed one too many times and I had told her that if I had to handle her again, I would cancel the babysitter and stay home
dyk and within 10 minutes she was on (literally) the baby again and I had had enough
To Whom It May Concern, September 25, 2011
Enclosed, please find the topics of discussion that we (Jennifer and Jennie) would like to bring to the table at our meeting on Tuesday. We hope in lining them out ahead of time, everyone involved will have a chance to brainstorm solutions, gather information or just think about how to eradicate the issues. It should also help us maximize our time together to have everyone familiar with our concerns.
Concerns about the level of care for Alisha’s diabetes are as follows:
• Inconsistencies in treating a low blood sugar (deviations from the outlined protocol)
Failure to give complex carbs
Failure to appropriately recheck within the one hour time frame
• Inconsistencies in treating a high blood sugar (deviations from the outlined protocol)
Failure to give appropriate amount of insulin (thus creating low sugars)
Failure to recheck in the 2 hour window (checking in an hour or not at all)
• Overdosing insulin when treating a high blood sugar
Correcting mid-morning sugars to 100
• Overdosing insulin by giving additional bolus doses too soon
Giving insulin within 2 hours of the previous dose
• Daily reporting inconsistencies, missing information
• Use and placement of the (newly updated) quick reference card
• Implementation of a new reporting form (attached as a word document)
• Overall following of specific instructions to create a continually consistent care program
• Emphasize using the emergency contacts as a resource to avoid having to make judgment calls
• Discuss a change in protocol for blood sugars ranging 71-99
Our goal for the meeting is to get some solutions in place immediately to correct all these things so that we can be confident in Alisha’s diabetes care while at school and have accurate information to relay to her doctors about her time spent at school.
dyk so I came up with the plan to forwarn everyone about what we'd like tot alk about so there are no surprises and no one feels "attacked" and I told Jen this:
<<<
The meeting and the nursing supervisor being there is the accountability for the school nurse and so we don't need to ask or do anything further there.
It's not personal -- it's SAFETY for Alisha. We will let the nursing supervisor handle the nurse. We are there to find out what the plan is for the issues we're having and that's all. >>>>>>>
dyk I realize that the nurse may be ticked, peeved, angry, upset, worried, or whatever, but it won't be because we are looking for her head on a platter -- it will be because her actions have caused us to have to have a meeting and involve the nursing supervisor and that's on her not us.
