Helen Hunt Jackson- September Poem

The goldenrod is yellow,
The corn is turning brown,
The trees in apple orchards
With fruit are bending down;

The gentian’s bluest fringes
Are curling in the sun;
In dusty pods the milkweed
Its hidden silk has spun;

The sedges flaunt their harvest
In every meadow nook,
And asters by the brookside
Make asters in the brook;

From dewy lanes at morning
The grapes’ sweet odors rise;
At noon the roads all flutter
With yellow butterflies–

By all these lovely tokens
September days are here,
With summer’s best of weather
And autumn’s best of cheer.

dyk nothing is broken today

dyk we just practiced her spelling words on the board

dyk she uses a mixture of capital and lowercase -- which is why we never taught Dek the capitals -- we just did lowercase for hiim and he doesn't interchange them -- he now only uses them at the start or for names

dyk WHY does most curriculum start them on capitals?

dyk I got Ellie up her second half nap and she threw a total fit thrashing and hollering at me, I think she tried to kick me!

dyk I dumped her little butt back into her bed and tossed a binky in after her as I shut the door and left.

dyk I think she was shocked b/c there was NO CRYING

dyk 10 minutes later -- I can hear her talking. We may try this "getting up from her nap" again.

dyk I'll let you know how it goes. HAHA

Dyk don't know if it was because I stayed up past 11:00 last night or because I unloaded all that crap I been carrying around in my heart, but I actually slept quite well last night.

Dyk was up shortly after Keith left this morning at 6?

dyk Hugs Julie

dyk I can't begin to imagine.
