Better information from real life or online?

Do you feel like you do better with your diet plans when you are in a live group or when you are using online support? I feel like I get more truthful information from online because people in real life tend to exagerate or stretch the truth but I am wondering if anyone else feels that way.

Honestly, I'm not sure!  I think it depends on the group of people.  I recently switched meeting times at WW and I'm not loving the new group of people as much as the old group.  The newer group is much quieter and they don't share as much so I don't find them as motivating.  Same thing with online groups- the more we share, the more discussions we have, the more support I feel.

Hi Brenda,  I never even thought of it that way, but I think you are correct in your thinking.

I have not had much success in real life because I always feel like everyone is looking at me thinking thank God they aren't as big as me. I'm just now finding online groups and I am mainly just reading what everyone else has to say so I hope that this helps.

I know that I don't speak up as much in person as I do online.  I don't have the best self-esteem for sure but I do feel more comfortable sharing online without a room of people looking at me.  I never thought of that before!

I really find that it depends on the group.  I find that one person can ruin an entire group.  We have one individual at one group she just jumps in and talks like she knows it all and constantly inserts jokes about points plus in alcohol (and she is not young).  I find that once that starts it kind of snowballs and everyone starts joking about it.  When I attend groups when someone like that is not there I find that they become more real.  Another reason why I like the face to face meetings is that there is a trained leader there to answer any questions that I may have about the program.  Having said that I find most of my motivation online because I do feel that people are more real here because for the most part no one knows who they are so they are more free.  I used to post here more often but lately I have been getting error messages so I have switched to WW Canada official site for most of my posts.  Hopefully they can fix things here soon.  I have been a member for over 10 years here and now most of the time they "can't find member name" or something like that.  I really miss posting here.
