fall weather on Thursday

DH dressed in a long sleeved shirt this morning, saying that it is 50 degrees out!  :O  I LOVE this weather.  I am a little concerned as I am unable to get ahold of my mother.  I listened to her messages, and one of the movers was very agitated, saying that he did not have the move on his calendar and that she had called him several times and that he received all of her messages.  I left a message with one of her friends who offered to help her move but was turned down.  I think I would have gotten a call from someone if something were terribly wrong, so I am hoping for the best.  Serenity prayer.  I guess I could call the independent living facility to ask if she has moved in.  Yes, I will do that.

Work today, TONS of admnistrative paperwork.  Did I tell you that we are getting the 2nd floor recarpeted?  By the end of the summer, I anticipate that the house will be "done," and then dh can choose to sell it to find something else to fix up.  I shoulld get up super early tomorrow, make the chocolate coverred strawberries, work out (if there are any classes), and then go to my girlfriend's party.

Is your daughter near your mom?  I hope all is okay with her. Finally getting her into the independent living will be such a relief for you!  Are you considering moving?  You always get so much added to your plate!  Did you ever decide to go to your son's graduation?

My life is so uneventful/boring in comparison!  We had this incredible lightening storm last night and it was beautiful seeing it through the clouds. We're supposed to get the outskirts of that hurricane so probably some rain but it's beautiful out right now.  Rest day for me. I'm getting a much needed massage. I don't know if I' ve mentioned how beat up I am these days between doing more silks and parkour.  The swinging on rails has ripped my palms (and made doing silks challenging), silks is tough on the shoulders, bruises from everything. I wish I had scheduled a longer session now!  No special plans for the weekend but I probably should plan something for tomorrow.  Given that we're a military family, it's sad that I'm so lame with the fourth of July.

FSN, for some reason (and I have no idea why) Chicago is one of the cities on my weather.com page, and I saw how cold it was there..I think we are getting the cold front after we get the remnants of the hurricane...the Fourth is predicted to be a total washout...I can use a quiet indoor day but I feel badly for everyone who has the day off...and you know there will be stupid people riding the waves and needing to be rescued...we were planning a 'paint the shed/block party' at my Cape condo, but it wil move to Saturday...but I have other day time plans for Saturday so I will 'miss' the painting...soooo sad..NOT...let us know when you locate your mother....Jean, I did laugh about your being asked to teach...I predict it will start with substituting, then just one class...then...boom, number one instructor. You asked me about consulting at my former company. I could do that after 90 days, and many people predict I will be asked to, but I am skeptical. The reasons I retired are still there, maybe worse, so it would have to be a really great opportunity...My reputation was that I always got things done, but I took no prisoners...the higher ups liked the results but not the methods...although interestingly, the competent people who worked for me always loved it because I challenged them, praised them, listened to them...the incompetent people of course were not so happy because I called them on their sh#t and I did itpublically...my mother's attitude with children that were misbehaving was that you only had to reprimand one of them and they would all get themessage...I applied that in business, and it did work but was not popular. If I have to work again, I think I would, iketo go someplace where I have no reputation, and I could try to only use the best parts of me....I am onc again on the bus....I have to say that I love this time..I listen to music on my Ipad, read, write, and end up where I need to be...unless it is raining at 5:00, I will not be working out today..we are planning on a band concert at 6:00, but if it rains I will go to step Zumba...have a great Fourth of July weekend...for all the things that are not right in our country, I am still happy that I am an American...

Woohoo I went running this morning (5 miles) and I started out COLD. I was so happy! This couldn't come at a better time. I am doing a 10K this weekend and everyone was concerned about the weather because the last two years they almost cancelled due to the heat index. It is supposed to be 58 when we start on Saturday. Now I am stressing not only over the 1.4 mile hill (it's all downhill and down hill running kills me) but whether or not I will need a long sleeve shirt. I am hoping to be able to finish in 60 minutes or less but after seeing the course I'm just not totally confident because of that hill.

Otherwise I have a ton of family and neighbors heading over tomorrow. I have so much to do it's not funny. Hubby is off for a couple of days so he is out working on setting up the backyard.

Happy 4th of July everyone!!

FSN, what did you find out from the independent living facility?  How stressful for you.  Hopefully, this is all over soon.

Jean, I think Happy is right... you start with ONE class and it's all downhill from there.  Hopefully your massage feels good and doesn't hurt from being bruised.  Jean, you asked yesterday if it's a BM year for me - it is not.  DH and OP are going but I have kitty duty.

Karla, how nice to be cold in mid-July, eh?  I was talking to my mom this morning and she was talkinig about how chilly it is.  Hard to imagine as it was 110 yesterday.

Happy, enjoy your weekend!  Sounds lovely.

I'm working this morning, doing cardio intervals and then I have a massage this afternoon.  We are invited to a big party tomorrow but I don't think I'll go.  Probably do something more low key at home.  We're doing a day trip Saturday and leaving early so I'll want to get to bed early.

My mom contacted me from her cell phone.  She is incredibly intelligent with her "stories" surrounding miscommunication.  She said she found movers to move her on Monday.  So, I will visit next weekend, with small kitchen table in tow to help her with additonal moving in activities, and then start pushing my daughter to move out of her apartment into mom's townhome.  :O  I got most of my paperwork done, and I hope it is not rejected by Monday.  Jean, ouch on the blisters, but I am jealous of both you and GR on your massages.  I will schedulle one for next Thursday...I can hardly wait.  Jean, teaching is so different than taking...years ago, I transitioned from taking a freedance class to teaching it.  I like taking the class much more than teaching!  Karla, good luck on your run!  SJ, you are already thinking of working?!  When do you go to France?  Retirement sounds vunderbaar at the moment!

ENJOY YOUR THREE DAY WEEKENDS...SJ, every day is a weekend for you, so enjoy your days! :)

FSN, glad you 'found' your mom....I leave for France July 17...I am not really wanting to work, but a lot of my annual bills come in in a June and July and it makes me aware of money...and how I have non come right now...all planned for, but still a little scary to live through...

Glad your mom called! Have you contacted the movers, just in case?

SJ, I can imagine how scary it is not having an income when you've had a steady stream for so long. You're smart enough, plan ahead enough that I can't imagine you didn't cover your bases. My father said his plan, if he lived far longer than he expected, was to rob a bank. They'd put him in jail and he'd get food/lodging for the rest of his life.
