Getting Free Friday

I have three clients so it's wishful thinking that all three will cancel so I catch parkour.  :-(  I had two cancel yeterday, though.  If not, or maybe even if I do catch parkour, I want to go to silks tonight.  We are moving my son to his apartment this weekend (just the furniture) but I realized someone needs to stay home to watch the puppy.  So, since my shoulder is bothering me and I can't lift, I'll stay home. It's the oddest injury because I can do most of parkou/silks but some lifting between my head and chest hurts. I wanted to get a case of beer at Costco and they had it stacked to my head level. I wasn't sure if my shoulder would be able to hold that and bring it down safely.  And the last thing I wanted was to drop the case on the ground. I did manage but seriously #firstworldproblems.

Did I tell you all I was doing the Perrione diet again?  There is a 3 day and a 28 day. I'm okay at the weight I've been but thought it might be easier to do parkour and silks if I were a little lighter.  A friend of mine wanted to lose weight so I said I'd do it w/ her.  Since Monday, I've lost 4 lbs.  What I like about this diet is that the food is healthy, it's low in starch but not in carbs so I feel energetic, not lethargic.  It has you eating lots of salmon, vegetables, fruits.   I never feel hungry, in fact the opposite. I tend to skip some snacks because I'm so full.  But, my friend and I joke about how we're salmoning to death. And, had a good laugh when they put up the salmon ladder at the parkour gym.

What?!  4 pounds in 4 days?!  I am definitely checking that out!

I slept from 6:30 last night until 5:30 this morning, with a one hour wake time in the middle of it.  :O  Yesterday morning, it took me 2 hours of suburban driving to avoid a major accident on the expressway.  Needless to say, I was late to my class and EXHAUSTED.  I forgot how much I hate rush hour traffic!  The class was awesome!  This morning, I am contemplating either a spin or kickboxing class, and then I am back to the quilt convention for more classes and perusing.  There is a vendor (and yesterday's teacher) all the way from Hawaii!  It's crazy over there, filled with artists and quilters.  With the extensive walking required, I was also keenly aware of all of the obese people!  OMG.  I am so grateful for my fit life, given that I can walk about three times as fast as some others!

Jean, re: what your children are learning about relationships, I think it's all a trade-off on accepting the good with the bad.  I remember hearing my therapist tell me that when the fear of leaving the relationship is less than the fear of staying, a person will leave.  In other words, when the trade-off is "on our side," we stay OR you accept the good with the bad.  That is the state of ANY relationship - marriage, friendship, work, etc.

Enjoy your parkour and silks.  I am having a shoulder problem with the opposite shoulder.  :(  That is one reason why I am opting out of yoga today.  The flow series (i.e., plank to low pushup has been killing me.)  "It's always something."  :)

HAVE A GREAT DAY, EVERYONE!!!

Can I just tell you that I am feeling that facebook is way too intrusive in my life.  First, I saw in my email that something I was watching on ebay was about to expire.  Then, I saw the exact item in my newsfeed on facebook.  Second, I just looked up the Perricone diet plan, and, now, I am getting Perricone ads in my newsfeed.  That's an invasion of my privacy, isn't it?!

Is it the same with Instagram and Twitter?!  :(

That following on FB is drivingm e crazy!  It's just happened more lately but it's almost eerie and makes me want to never visit again.  My son said I need to browse as anonymous.  I don't want to delete cookies because I don't want to sign in every time.

The Perricone diet is an anti-inflammatory diet and supposed to help w/ wrikles. I don't buy that part but do find that I lose weight quickly and then I use that to springboard onto similar eating. I don't believe diets work unless you have an end plan.  I go back to it when I find I'm at the top end of my "acceptable" weight.  In the past 12 years, I've probably done it five times and it's helped me maintain my weight easily. It's a good way to eat, overall.   I also like Kathy Smith's Jumps Start diet, not just for 5 days as she recommends but as a way of eating. Not low carb but less than most Americans eat.  The key to both is a good amount of vegetables as we should be eating.

Jean, if I lost 4 lbs in 4 days I'd be tired. Speaking of tires, tiring or tired...I'd love to get rid of the spare tire around my waist but I just don't know how. The older I get the worse it seems. lol

Fresh, I too have noticed the intrusion of FB posts and advertisements. I put something in my cart on Amazon on Monday and shortly thereafter it was showing on my FB page. Not only that, but Bit Strips freaks me out anymore. It seems to take things from my text messages and IMs and turn them into cartoons. I don't like that at all!  I clear my cookies and cache, etc constantly now to keep that to a minimum.

SJ, I love your auto corrects. Sometimes they are hilarious.

Elc, no way I could stay on my feet for 30 hours. I just don't know how they do it.

Gym, I laughed when I read your common sense Fridays about baby West. My younger family members have chosen the names of cities for some of their children (we have a Pheonix, London, Milan, Dallas...) but no directions yet. lol

I got up early and ran 3 miles before the heat sets in for the day. As I was finishing the last mile, I saw my husband out looking for me on his bike. The last mile of my run today was up hill so he decides he wants to race. I stayed right with him most of the way. lol He said he is very impressed. ;-)

Jean, can you post a link to the perricone diet?  I am assuming you are eating frozen salmon?  Where do you get it?  We bought canned salmon once and I think it scarred me for life.  It was a salmon, bones and all, stuffed into a can.  It was wretched.

FSN, glad you are enjoying your quilting conference!  The FB stuff is annoying to me as well but I am trying to ignore it.  I've stopped (for the most part) using my FB to log into or join sites.  I think that's part of it.

Karla, glad you enjoyed the CSF!  And how cool that you kept up with hubby on your bike!

I got hooked up with a new copywriting site and did a test assignment for them this morning.  I've also got some resume stuff to do plus another article job.  I have a dentist appointment this morning.. not so much looking forward to that.  We're going out for dinner tonight with some friends we haven't seen in a while so that should be fun.  Planning to do weight training this afternoon and have been trying to wear my orthotics even though I don't wanna.  Cool

I'm sure a lot of the weight is water but my clothes are looser. But, keep in mind that I have more weight to lose than you so you probably wouldn't lose that much. I think my friend lost close to 8 lbs thus far.  I think, as we get older, that we need to be so much more careful about what we eat and keep more closely to the recommended amount of starches vs our traditional diet.  Hormones are killers as that all goes.

GR, this is the three day Perricone diet.

http://www.perriconemd.com/display.do?ruleID=100744

I find it to be too much food so cut back a lot, plus I sub proteins for salmon.  If I eat canned salmon, it's from Costco but not the whole thing like you've had. It's like tuna fish.  I buy fresh alaskan salmon from Costco.  They also have frozen but I also get the frozen from Trader Joe's. It's not a cheap diet!  The 28 day daiet:

It's all the same idea but different foods swapped out. I haven't looked that much into the rest of the month yet.

I am in the 'no salmon' group. I only had canned salmon once in my life - as a hospital meal when I was ten and I am still grateful to my roommate's father for bringing us pizza....my mother and uncle would always have salmon and peas on the Fourth of July - I think that is a New England thing - it looks delicious but I cannot get past the idea of bones in fish....although I have never in my life seen 'cause of death - choked on fish bone' we never ate fist that my mother didn't say 'watch out for bones'. I masticate the fish I eat and I eat it only when it would be rude to not...but my mother loved salmon, and I am perversely happy when I see it on a menu...i am definitely tired of battling food and my weight...there is so much I want to eat that I don't and I work out so much and so hard...but I love food....I have to be in a real zone to eat the small amount I need to to lose...And I am not there right now... Jean, sibling relationships are so interesting...they both change and stay the same over time. FSN, I am not on Facebook, but ads are definitely driven by what you do online. There is no true privacy on the web....Big Brother is always watching. I use store loyalty cards but one of my cousins won't use them...he doesn't want anyone knowing what he buys...and in reality, health insurance companies could look at your food choice and incorporate it into rates... Karla, bike against run seems like a tough race! GR, hope the dentist was painless I ran two miles on the road today - a great run. It is a perfect day here - warm, sunny, dry - I think part of my running difficulties are when I get warm...which happens at the gym. The breeze today kept me cool! Have great weekends, everyone!

Diet/healthy eating is a tough balance when food tastes good. I had a client who listed things he loved, including pizza.  I told him he could have pizza but a slice or maybe two w/ a large salad on the side.  He scoffed at me as if the idea were ludicrous,  Seriously, most trainers would tell him to cut it out altogether!  As I keep saying, weight loss isn't w/out sacrifice and if it were easy, we wouldn't have a weight problem in this country.  I don't think there's anyone who has lost weight and has found it easy to keep it off.  It's just one of those struggles you either accept, or give up on the goal. I don't believe in guilt.  I've worked on my weight my whole life and it is constant vigilance, or I gain.  If I do, I get back on track.  But I'll say it's never been easy (except when I was pregnant and allowed to gain some!).  That said, I think I'm done with salmon!
