Getting ready to go Wednesday

I just realized I'll have spent three days doing almost nothing as I get ready to leave.  I probably should have squeezed in a workout but I have no routine right now.  When I get back, I have to reevaluate my gym status, where to go, what to do.  I still have that membership to my newest gym that is only $28 a month. I never go and have access to five other facilities, plus silks and skating but it's such a deal and would cost me $35 to rejoin (the irony isn't lost that had I quit a year ago, I would have saved enough to join at a higher rate and still saved money). Ugh.  I'm really hating gym classes right now.  What do you all take at the gym these days?

I do yoga.  I am continually refining and improving, so it's still a challenge for me.  I am lucky that there are such fabulous yoga instructors at my gym...some of them also teach at this intensive yoga studio.  I am bored with spin, although I realized that it is good cardio, I am finding it to be like nails on a chalkboard.  I can't do the weight classes because it aggravates my shoulder.  I can't do the step classes because it aggravates my knees and foot.  Other than that, I take ballroom and linedance lessons.  :D  I am not the gymrat that I once was!

As always, the initial anxiety to major change is starting to subside, and I am seeing "the light at the end of the tunnel."  I am even considering suing one of my previous lawyers, as it seems that I got bad advice regarding various actions that were/were not taken, one of which has to do with my son.  Although I know it is bad to look back (I know that I made the best decision I could at the moment), if the legal advice I got was wrong, then I don't want that to happen to others in the future.

Since I did both yoga and linedancing yesterday, I think today will be a rest day...perhaps I will wash the dogs tonight...that is a workout in and of itself!  Or, maybe I will do some quilting.  I should do SOMETHING FUN while my family is away! :)  And, I should probablly book a massage for Friday.

SJ, I am so excited for your retirement!  I hope you stay on this board, as I am living vicariously through your eyes!  The thought of eliminating work stress sounds vunderbaar to me!  I would love to hear what kinds of decisions you are making and how you are feeling through the transition.  :)  Jean, enjoy the snow, and yes, everyone else in the country is not enjoying it!

I haven't been to a lot of classes lately because most are late in the afternoon and I have been working a lot of evenings. When I do go, I like to go to cross fit or Insanity. Turbo-kick is still very popular at my gym and we now have a butts and guts class but I haven't had time to check that one out.

Today may have been my last cold run of the year (I hope). It was 28 degrees and I got out this morning by myself and ran 6.1 miles in exactly 60 minutes (1:00:00). I am pretty darn happy about it and I felt really good. My goal last fall was to get out in the elements and run all winter and even though I did have to spend several weeks on the treadmill, I did it! I accomplished my goal.

I am going to get a double shot of exercise in today as I am meeting up with my sister to lift some weights this evening.

I've got boneless ribs in the crock pot and am going to make some mashed potatoes and green beans to go along with it for dinner.

Yum, ribs sound GREAT!  I am hoping to eat a great dinner tomorrow evening for my work program.  It's at the restaurant that used to be the favorite of mine and dh's, but the last time we went, there were some questionable dishes we got.  We wondered if they lost their chef, so I am hoping that they redeem themselves tomorrow night!

The only class I am taking lately is Zumba but I hope to add Pilates back in. We had a sad day in Boston today - two firefighters were killed in a nine alarm fire. My gym is located behind one of the hospitals, and that is where one of them was taken. There was a lot of press, police, and fire vehicles and a lot of hustled activity in the hospital. Tragedy puts a lot of life into perspective. Some give all....I will definitely stay with this board...one thing I look forward to in retirement is more time to work out. It is very cold and windy today, but I went to the gym - foam roll, three minutes on bike, lifting for shoulders, bis, tris, ran 1 mile in 14 minutes.
