gorgeous sunrise on Wednesday

Wow!  The sky was absolutely beautiful this morning!  Early work meeting this morning, and then I have to get some administrative things done.  My gym is doing too much hot yoga, and I cannot stand hot yoga.  The summer heat is enough for me, without adding the heat inside.  :(  I am going to have to find something else to do if they continue.  So, it would seem that my mother forgot to schedule the movers?  All I know is that she told me that, "the movers didn't show up at 9:30."  So sad.  I suggested she call the movers today and either confirm that they were coming another day, or schedule it?  My support group was cancelled yesterday.  :(  Maybe I need to find another one.  My name is on the list to be called, should they cancel next month, too.

Life goes forward!  I am contemplating a memory quilt for my mom - pictures of my mom and dad so that she can have my dad "close" to her.

Make it a great day, everyone!

FSN, can you call the movers?  Given that your mom's memory/forgetfulness, it might help give you peace of mind.  Sorry your support group was cancelled. It does sound like a smart idea to find others.  That way, you can compare dynamics and see which you meld with best.

The parkour conditioning class was great last night. The guy is a new instructor but former competitive gymnast. A couple of the older ladies from the 401pk class joined in.  One is the one who started a few months ago, is obese but has lost a ton of weight and is doing great.  The other is new, former military but has gotten out of shape. So, I had good company.   He started off the class on rails (high bars) had us do multiple sets of 10 pull ups, leg raises, knees to elbows, shoulder shrugs all from hanging on the bar. You gotta love a young guy whose idea of a "lower" level of pull ups is to do them in multiple sets and not all at once as if doing the pull up itself is easy.  Then he had us go to the parallel bars and walk forward and back w/ our hands, feet off the ground, do dips and then jump our hands forward and scoot across the bars.  I was very proud of myself for being able to all that..  I couldn't keep up w/ the young people but did keep up w/ the fit guy who was probably in his early 40's.  The instructor really had no idea what to do w/ the other two ladies, though.  I don't know if it was out of place for me to work with them but I gave them pointers and different exercises they could do to mimic what we were doing.  But, I wouldn't have done it if they weren't friends.

So, I'm going to the kinder, gentler version of parkour today, the 401pk class. My daughter wants to go to silks tonight.  My hands are kind of ripped up from swinging on the bars (we also did rail fail last night--what to do if you're swinging on a rail and release by mistake) so I'll see how I feel and if I can grip w/out pain tonight.

FSN, I'm generally an advocate of people taking care of their own stuff but perhaps it would be in everyone's best interest if you managed your mom's move?  Get her moved, settled and I'll bet you'll feel a little calmer.

Jean, your plan for France sounds delicious.  Man, am I itching to travel again?

One of you asked me when OP moves...  presently, he's set to close mid-August and will plan to move mid-to-late September.

We had a lovely day yesterday.  He went with me to get my allergy shot, we had a lovely lunch out and then escaped the heat at the movies.

Rest day for me today...  just working.  No workout.  I think I have a tire leak so I will probably have to get that addressed today.

Fresh, ugg on the movers. Is there any way you can contact them yourself to make sure she even set them up? I now make my mother call and check on reservations/appointments, etc while I am with her to make sure she even made them.

Jean, reading your post makes me want to get to the gym and start doing pull ups. lol I feel so out of shape all of a sudden. I haven't been hitting the weights hard at all lately. Once I get past my half-marathon in September I am going to start back to classes.

SJ, your trip to France and the surrounding areas sounds like my dream trip. I would love to do something like that!!!

Gym, I am fascinated by your solar panels and can't wait to hear how they work.

I ran 7.40 miles this morning in the park. I had only planned to run 6.2 miles but as I was nearing the 6 mile mark I suddenly had to use the bathroom (I am trying to train myself not to have to stop so many times during a long run) and I realized I was well over a mile from the bathrooms so I had to finally break into an all out fast as I could go run to get myself there before an accident occured. lol My pace for the whole run wound up much faster than I typically run on that length of a run so maybe my bathroom training could double as speed work. ;-)

Karla, your post reminded me of a question I once asked a friend who does ulltra-marathons.  The mileage she does is crazy and I asked her if she stopped to pee during.  She said "Oh no, if you stop, it's nearly impossible to start again."  So I said "What do you do then?"  She smiled and said "You just go while you're running.  You get used to it."

No thank you.  Tongue Out

GR, is this a BM year for you?  I vaguely remember your going last year but time flies and I could be thinking of the year before. Yeah, I have serious travel-itis.  I need to suck it up because I've already had two week+ long ski vacations by myself and am heading to the Catskills next week w/ my daughter to see my sister and her family. Oh, and I had that NYC trip in April w/ my daughter. We're going to CA in August.  But, I still need my multiweek travel somewhere exotic.  France, Australia, Italy, Spain are all calling me.

Karla, not being able to get in other workouts was a problem w/ training for longer distance races. I thought I'd ben in the best shape of my life when I did the marathon but I was only in the best shape of my running life. I wasn't doing as much lifting, interval training, etc.  It's one reaon (of many) that I only run 5 miles now.  One thing I got better about when running was that any bathroom would do. I didn't care how messy, how old, etc.  The best sight once was n unexpected porapotty just when I needed it. Thankfully, it was clean but I would have been fine if it hadn't been. Did I tell you how I started running w/ wipes and toilet paper?  Yeah, anal retentive, literally!

I run on the treadmill because of the bathroom issues....FSN, I am so not a morning person that I almost never see the sunrise. A few times I had to fly to NY on the early shuttle, and I would email everyone at work 'I saw the sunrise today!' On the other hand, you can call me at 1:00 am and I am probably still awake...and I agree that you might want to take over your mother's moving arrangements. Jean, soon you will be saying 'I am thinking of teaching conditioning at the Parkour studio'. GR, did you see a good movie? I was looking forward to 'Jersey Boys' but the reviews aren't that great. Karla, you are definitely a runner. We are expecting tropical storms this weekend...the Fourth of July concert on the Esplanade got moved to the third...I've seen it postponed, but never advanced...it was very warm today...I lifted early, with the bike warmup and abs, and then sat at the pool. Eventually I swam 24 laps...outside, the lanes can be shared, but I hate sharing, so I gave up the lane when someone asked to share....then I went to foam rolling....I am now doing laundry...it isn't a hard task, but it is not my favorite...

Haha, don't laugh but I have been asked if I want to teach a fitness class or aerial silks there. I don't want to commit to a weekly class but would love to do a pop up class. You know, how they have pop up restaurants?  Follow by tweet and if there's one in your area, swing by.  I just enjoy going there a lot and don't want to mix work with fun that much.

SJ, I saw the news about Hurricane Arthur. We typically go to Myrtle Beach this time of the year but had to push it back a few weeks this year. I am so thankful that something came up now that I see what kind of weather is expected on the east coast!
