Happy Easter Sunday

After spending the afternoon in the immediate care yesterday afternoon, I think today will be a rest day with some painting added in.  I need some R&R.  :)  DH was cutting down a 20 foot tree that was blocking some sunlight from his garden.  Upon almost completing, a branch fell, and he went to grab it, but the chain saw knicked his pinky finger, went through the glove and down into the nailbed.  For now, he waits to see a specialist on Monday because we are hoping that the bone did not get knicked, in which case a bone infection might ensure.  :(  To me, this seems minor, as he explained to me that minutes before, he was using the lopper, and he cut through a live wire, but that luckilly he had rubber gloves on.  What?!  He may have narrowly escaped death yesterday?!  I'm a little shook up by the incident, and with his pain meds, we got into a fight.

Aaaaahhhh, the pleasures of marriage.  Thank goodness for dogs and art and dancing!!!

I hear ya on the high deductibles. We have been on an individual policy for many years. In 2011 the premiums went so high that we switched to a plan with lower premium but high deductible, and I started putting away $ every month in case we got big medical bills. Our new ACA compliant bronze plan actually has a slightly lower deductible than the previous plan. Dh's foray to the ER last month apparently was the day of reckoning for my medical savings account. I haven't seen actual bills yet but from insurance EOBs it appears that his 20 hr visit (few hrs in ER then admitted for observation) has generated charges of $10K or more. I don't get it because the only "testing" they did was labwork (several times) and he had an IV with one add-in med. I'm sure dh's deductible and out of pocket max will be met for the year. Sheesh.

Thanks for sharing the article.  I should tell my trainer about it.  :)  It looks like one of the pictures I took of our "dog group" out walking the dogs.

As for our medical insurance, the deductibles are SO HIGH with my new company, but I am sure we have met it, now.  :(  Luckily, this is the first year I decided to do the flexible spending account.  :)  Life is good.  I am chalking the fight up to his anxiety over the outcome.  We proceed on.

Happy Easter to you too. Yikes about your dh with 2 close calls in one afternoon. Good thing he got out of the garden when he did. Hopefully no issues with a bone infection, keep us posted. Since you work in a health related field presumably you have good medical insurance?

Since you are into dogs you might enjoy this article:
