Happy Mother's Day Weekend Friday

Oooohhhh, after the 80 degree temperatures yesterday, it looks like muggy, rainy, stormy weather today!  Work today, travel to see my mom and daughter for the weekend tonight.  I spent 8 hours on my expense report last night, and I am still not done.  The software is so slow!  Ugh.  I have to finish that this morning, pack, if I have time make chocolate coverred strawberries, and then, go to work.  Ballroom dancing tonight.

I spoke with the RN at my doc's office yesterday, and she told me that the increased HRT was responsible for my "bloat", so my abdomen is on the decline.  I also seem to have injured my elbow, so I have to refine my yoga movements. My SJ assignment has sparked an interest in writing a motivational presentation for teaching managers to inspire...I am thinking I would have to do research on current studies/thinking, interview employees with good and bad managers, write up conclusions, and then make a list of "What to Do" to be an inspiring leader.  That would be fun!  However, I am a little ADD with my list of everything I like to do.  So how badly to I want this?!  THAT is the question!  Perhaps this is a fall project to start tackling.

Karla, your remote picture is a signal that we need a Cricket cellphone-type-remote.  My mom has paid the cable company several times now to come to her house to "fix the tv," when it was really her mispressing the remote buttons.  :O

Three things I am grateful for - for my ex-MIL who introduced me to linedancing, my father's ability to teach me without ever speaking of the lessons, and my daughter's behavior of "tellling me like it is" - that is so refresshing, even when it is a slap in the face of reality (i.e., negative about me)!

MAKE IT A GREAT DAY AND WEEKEND, EVERYBODY!

Awesome job, Karla! I love that your injured pace is just over an 8 minute mile.  See, I told you you were fast!  How do you feel today?

I did it-I ran the 5K this morning and did great. I got up early, taped my leg, had a cup of coffee and a bowl of oatmeal and decided I was just going to go down there and walk it. I planted myself in the middle of the pack with a couple of other injured people from my gym who were going to walk and when they started out jogging, I went ahead and joined them. I felt  so good starting out that I decided to give it some gusto and ran the first mile in 7:54. I had to slow down a bit on my other two miles (hit a downhill slope and almost had to stop because it was killing my leg) but I was still going at a good clip and I finished 5th in my age group and in the top 20 women with a 25:10 for the 5K. I am really, really thrilled with that time!! :-)

Karla, technology is overwhelming to me and I worked with it for a living....for those younger, it is intuitive...for those older a total challenge...I ended up ordering a new printer today because I cannot make the one I have work..I used to mostly print at work...I can't find the manual, need new ink, have trouble changing the ink...and a new one was $29.99....Jean, so nice of you to make a welcome home cake...I think the first summer back from college is very hard as the 'child' has had the experience of being an 'adult' but the parent hasn't been involved in the change. GR, hope you are near the end of your medical adventures. FSN, I think your presentation idea is great...it is cloudy here but the weekend is supposed to be spectacular....I went to the gym this morning to lift and then went to Zumba. The instructor is a very upbeat person and I really like his class. I only ran once this week....I think 45 minutes of Zumba is more calories than the almost 30 minutes it takes me to run a mile, but because I like it so much more, it feels like I am 'cheating'....next weekend is the graduation/wedding whirlwind...I need to make a list of what I need to do because once I leave my house in Friday, I will be on the go until Monday! Happy weekend and Happy Mother's Day to all who are and have Mothers...

Karla, can you "donate" your race spot so it's not wasted?  If you're waffling on whether to do it, I say err on the side of caution and sit this one out.

Fresh-happy Mother's Day to you too!

Gym, I took Singulair for a while and could not have felt worse the whole time I took it. I constantly had body aches and a cough. AFTER I took myself off of it, the doc told me that she'd heard that several other people had the same experience.

Jean, so exciting your son is coming home. The first time my oldest came home after and extended stay away, things were so different. He had grown up and the nature of our relationship had changed. It was honestly so much better than when he'd been a teen. I'm finding the same thing with my oldest daughter. She comes to stay now during the week since her husband is working out of town and we are like the best of friends now.

SJ, I laughed out loud over the news and noise thing. I'm about to just get rid of all my mother's remote controls just for my own peace of mind. And her cell phone. Did I tell you girls about the red button incident with her cell phone? Several weeks ago I kept trying to call her and everytime I called, it would ring a few times then hang up. It didn't even go to her voicemail. So I went over to her house to check on her and she was sitting there waiting for me to call again. I asked her why she wasn't answering and she told me she was but that I was hanging up every time on her. I asked to see her phone and she comments to me, when it rings I press the red button and it just hangs right up. Ugg. She had somehow "forgotten" that the green button answers and the red hangs up.

So I jogged a few miles last night and while my leg is better, it isn't healed. I tried to really get on it a mile and started having some tightness and pulling so I just went back to jogging. I still haven't decided if I should just jog the 5K or volunteer to work. I have already paid so I just don't know what I'm going to do. I hate when I do this to myself.

Jean, enjoy your time with your son!  That sounds fabulous.

FSN, I'm glad you are taking stock of things and putting responsibility in the right place.  One other gem from my therapist: "You can only do 100% of your half in a relationship."

After my uber-exciting day yesterday, I am glad to be staying home.  I've got my remaining client this morning and may do some work (if I have any - presently, I do not) and may take it easy.

Saw my doc last night.  There's a little patchy spot on my lung that he thinks was pneumonia.  But he thinks the antibiotic I took probably took care of it.  He's taking me off Singulair and moving me up to a more souped up version of it called Zyflo. He also looked at my nose and said it looks pretty good!  I still have some polyps in the forehead sinus cavity so he and the ENT are hoping the Zyflo will reduce those and I will be able to avoid more surgery.  He suggested not exercising this week and then starting slow next week so that is what I shall do.

No real plans this weekend.  Doing something with DH and OP this weekend but we haven't figured out what yet.  Best friend is coming over tonight for some chit-chat.
