Let's Do It Thursday

Ahh, I don't know what is going on with me but the past week, I've been eating nonstop and junk I normally don't eat.  It has to stop today.  My daughter told me she wants to start eating "better" and would like less junk in the house to help--it's a big step so I'm proud of her. And, I told my husband to stop bringing it home.  So, I have to find healthy snack foods that she will eat and that's the challenge.  There's junk food in her eyes like chips and ice cream and there's junk food in my eyes which is also white pasta and butter and cheese.  I'm teaching sports conditioning today (we call it small group training) and then going to silks.  This has been more painful getting back into after a couple of months off.

Are they playing with the format here or is it my computer? The width of the page no longer fits on one screen which means you have to page across to read each sentence.

Hi Everyone,

SJ, yes everything is fine here and WOW congrats on your possible retirement. We had no internet yesterday (2nd time in a week) most of the day until yesterday evening. In my opinion it is a pitb to post from my phone so I usually don't.

My sister and I ran 5 miles yesterday and I struggled. It was 50 degrees outside which was great but we had to deal with 20mph winds with higher gusts. I feel sore all over today so I am probably going to just stretch and take the day off.

Fresh, how are you feeling today?

Jean, I have been on a junk binge too. I have been craving candy and have already eaten one of these this week  Artificial Orange Flavored Slices Coated In Sugar Orange Slices, 32 oz

No wonder I have so many teeth problems eh? ;-)

Gym how is the sinus wash thing going?

Jean, I hear you.  My eating has been terrible lately and I've been SO hungry.  No idea why.

Karla, I LOVE those.  I also love the "mint leaves" too.  Agree with you on posting from the phone.

I've got my client this afternoon followed by an appointment with a new chiropractor that my massage therapist recommended.  I've got work to do this morning and I'm probably going to do cardio.

Karla, to answer your question, the sinus wash thing is going okay.  Gunk is coming out but I have a distinct feeling that this is not going to be enough and surgery is probably inevitable.  I am once again on an antibiotic course (oy) which does make me feel better in some ways but upsets my system in others.

There's a noodle work party tonight that I'm thinking I will skip.  I'm feeling kind of low tolerance with people at the moment.

Don't know how much I'll be around next week as my mom is visiting.  It'll be the first time EVER that I pick her up from the airport and she doesn't need to run outside immediately to smoke.  That's pretty exciting.

Hi gals! Long time,.....by the way, can someone fill me in on the noodle project? What does it all mean? :)

I had an MRI on my knee last week and although the good news is that there is no torn meniscus, I have early osteoarthritis in the knee.  He gave me a steriod injection just this morning and "we will see" how that goes.  He referred me to the rheumatology department and as I got in the car, I thought, although it is nice to have some kind of functional description of what is going on with my knee, I don't have any idea how to treat it with exercise and the like.  Maybe I will call them back.  They sent me  on my way so fast, I think I was in with the doctor for about 2 minutes max.  The PA did the injection.  She was the only one that would talk to me, really.  They said it could not work at all, or work for years.  If it doesn't work, then the rheumatoid people will go to other injections (celexa, hyalruonic acid I think).  Meanwhile, I am happy to have some kind of treatment plan but really, i want to know how to keep exercising without exacerbating or wearing the knee out.

I hope that you are all well.  I have been preoccupied with this and also many other projects going on in my life right now.  My husband and I are starting to try and sing/play music on the side and that is very fun.  We did an open mic last night, my first time doing that.  Exciting.

Hope the day goes well for everyone!

Wow, Cath, open mic?!  What kind of music?  I WISH I could sing!  Jean, yes, earlier this week, I was having problems viewing and posting on the board so I assumed it was more updates.  Kar and Jean, speaking of junkfood, I broke down and ate bbq chicken wings for lunch yesterday.  I just had a craving!  GR, {{{hugs}}} on your sinus issues...that must be so annoying that so many docs can't solve this problem!  I am "weathering the storm," on the cold-front, but all of my life-issues are taking toll on my psyche.  The second-opinion-lawyer mentioned a few times that I have a malpractice case on my hands.  One of my previous lawyers (who tried ot "pick me up") is the onlly lawyer to do malpractice cases.  DH wants me to go after the malpractice case(s), but I do not.  I really hate the legal system.  I also wish I would have met this lawyer before the one that I hired, as she had some "angles" at going after my ex.  Do I fire the last lawyer?  I tire of fighting, and am leaning towards letting my ex take the money.  DH wants me to fight and set a boundary.  I am investigating the fight, but that relies on my previous lawyer (who has ignored all of my communications) giving me some information.  The last lawyer said that I should threaten to report her to the Attorney Review Board (?) if she doesn't give me my documents in 5 days.  If she doesn't return my message (I went to her office and left a message with her admin who is her mother), I will have to send her a certified letter with the threat...OMG, I have to sue my previous lawyer to get rightful damages for the improper handling of my case?!  Really?!  WTF.

No workout today, as I am resting and fighting off this cold!

Karla, the bad runs make you extra grateful for the good ones. Headwind is hard!

GR, I'm so hungry, too. It's not that I'm just craving bad food but I want to eat.  Did you read the article in IDEA about cortisol/insulin and belly fat. It all made so much sense.

Cath, good to have you back! I wondered where you were. Hope you find something that helps w/ your knees. I know someone who went to another country to get stem cells for the knee (from his own blood platelets). I can't wait to see how that works.

FSN, how frustrating on the legal side. I understand being frustrated and not wanting to deal w/ it all. But, it would drive me crazy that bad lawyers and exhusbands end up getting what they want.

Fresh BBQ wings with ranch dip sounds like something I really need right now! Oh along with a good hearty peice of raspberry chocolate cheesecake....lol

Gym, the only grocery store in my town doesn't have the mint leaves. They get them temporarily around Christmas but right now they only have the oranges slices or the mixed flavors.

Cath it's good to see you back! I too hope you find something that helps with your knees.

Jean, it is so weird about the winds. On Sunday I ran 5 miles with 25 mph winds with blowing snow and it was frigid out. I had one of the best runs in years. Yesterday, I figured after the Sunday run it would be a peice of cake but I struggled from the start. The winds were so erratic I just couldn't find my groove. On the otherhand, because I knew I would be out for a while with work and running I had put a corned beef in the crock pot and when I got home from my disappointing run I was able to sit down to a completely delicious meal. lol

We seem to have a food theme happening today. Maybe we all need a good carb fix. I'm thinking pizza along with our wings and cheesecake.

It is good to be back!  We are singing older music (my theory--why even try to be current? the kids have that covered, in abundance).  So we are doing older stuff like Beatles, Elton, Johnny Cash, some originals, Simon and Garfunkle and the like.  The older country music, tho not my favorite genre, has proven to be very fun to sing and harmonize to.  It is very fun. I had to get over some real fear, but I am trying to espouse whay my husband wisely calls "fearless musicianship!"

I am going to run over to wal-mart (hardly ever go there but sometimes it is just necessary!)  for a few things and I think I will check out their stationary bikes.  Just to see what they have.  I may ask for one for my bday next month. I will try to stay away from the bad food there but it is difficult as they have a McD right inside the door and it is lunchtime!

lol on the cheesecake...as I was eating six layer carrot cake from the dinner program I hosted last night.  :P  This weather is causing me to eat tons of junk food!!!  (At least that is my "excuse" and I am sticking to it.)  And you are truly the running energizer bunny!

Cath, the music gig sounds wonderful!  I have a lot of friends who sing, and I am always so envious of the beautiful voices. :)

GR, good for you on taking it easy...you lead a very social life!

Jean, silks sound like fun!  I always think of that commercial with the woman swinging through the kitchen to the family room...that will be you one day.

I learned this new trick today. It's similar to the one I posted on FB but you have to catch the silk as you fall. I don't know what happens if you don't but I'm thinking it's not pretty. As the other student said, it's almost a survival instinct to catch them. The girl in the video looks like she's about 10!

Wow!  My adrenaline was pumping, just watching that video!  Silks looks like fun, but potentially scarey!
