Phew it's Friday!

Not that it really matters to me because I barely work as it is and I actually teach more on weekends than I do during the week.  I taught my sports conditioning class where we aimed for the 1000 rep workout, got to 800.  But that still means 80 burpees w/ push ups, 80 plank rows, etc. so it was pretty tough and then I did silks which was so much fun. Last week was super tough but I'm getting back to it and can't wait to do it more.  I do need something so my shirt doesn't flip over my head. That belly fat hanging out isn't attractive. The instructor has none so she doesn't have to care. The other woman is 7 months postpartum and wears a unitard. I'm not sure about the unitard route but it's better than belly fat.  I have a few clients today, will take the dog on some long walks but not sure how much else I'll work out. Once ski season is over, I'll start a new workout plan.

80 burped and plank rows at one workout?!  I am so out of shape compared to you!  I have done yoga twice in the last two weeks, and that's it!  At this moment, I don't belong on this board.  :P. I am working too much, and prefer SJ's retirement right about now...although I am LOVING my new partner.  She is so competent and intelligent.  I haven't had a good partner in YEARS, and it is so refreshing!  I am finally able to rely on someone else which makes me feel like I can finally exhale.  Lol on belly fat, as I continually pull down my tank during yoga.  Some of those tanks are slightly longer in length, but they always seem to creep up.

dh has a full blown cold, and he leaves for FL with ss and dd in tow on Sunday.  I thought I wasn't allowed to take vacation time during our new product launch, but I am learning that the last regional manager was overstepping her HR bounds/authority...in other words, I could have gone on vacation with my family.  C'est la vie...it will be good for my family to be without me...a learning experience on several fronts.  I seem to be holding this cold "at bay," but I am just exhausted.  I have a lot of work-work, legal follow-up, and home-work to attend to.  I wish I felt healthy enough for yoga!  I learned of another dance venue that I have yet to try out! too.  I also got tix for a "gala" where the UIUC chancellor is speaking to raise funds for my high school to renovate classrooms.  My mother and daughter will be going with me, so it will be three female generations affiliated with the university.  I am so hoping to make that connection with the chancellor!  If it is too busy to meet her one on one, at least we will have a fun time for a good cause.

yea for the weekend!

Jean, I highly recommend purchasing men's "wife beaters" - the tanks that are designed to go under shirts.  They are much longer than typical tank tops and cheap to boot.  Walmart sells them in colors so you don't have to worry about sheerness.

FSN, I'm glad your new partner is awesome.  And for what it's worth, I think it might be good for your mental health to have some alone time with the family gone.

I have been in a wretched mood the last couple of days but I think it has passed.  I've got my client this afternoon and then a 90 minute massage - SO looking forward to that.  I'm happy it's almost the weekend.  Best friend's birthday is this weekend and to celebrate, we're doing a cocktail/food crawl via limo.  DH referred one his clients (a transportation company) to OP and OP went above and beyond at one point to do something for them.  So, as a thank you, they gave us a VERY discounted rate for the limo.  Best friend is a pink freak so I got her pink champagne for a toast pre-ride.  I'm hoping for a very relaxing fun day.  Sunday is another noodle work party and I may go.  DH went over to help last night and I stayed home which did wonders for my mental health.  Have a great weekend ladies!

Jean, I would love to know what the 1000 rep workout is. We do the 100 rep workout where you start out with 100 of something, then 90 of something else, then 80 of yet another thing, etc and when you get to 10, you start working back up. And be happy you have belly flab-at least you won't get kicked out gym like this woman http://sandrarose.com/2014/03/gym-tells-woman-her-toned-body-intimidated-the-other-members/ lol

I am spring cleaning this weekend and have a couple of runs planned. Nothing major really. Hope everyone has a good weekend!

Waving hello!! I have totally fallen off the wagon the last few weeks in terms of everything. Work has been horribly busy, and had me in a foul mood and DH has been gone a ton, he finishes up his skydiving coaches training course this weekend. So I haven't done squat, not even a squat in a good 2-3 weeks. :( I had a workout planned tomorrow morning at the Y when the girls were in dance classes, but got a call Tuesday telling me they cancelled the classes, apparently they couldn't find an instructor! Who advertises and takes sign up for a class you don't have an instructor for?? Was PO'ed about it, especially since I went and spent $65 on shoes for both girls for the class. I hunted around and finally found a dance studio that still has open enrollment and has a saturday class for both of them, same time, different studios. I will have to find out tomorrow if I can leave while they are doing the hour long class, and if I can, I will either go for a walk around the area or run over the farmers market, then I can assess what i can do if they continue on in the class weekly. Hoping DH will be home early on Sunday from his training (praying the weather is yucky and he can't stay to jump) so that I can get some alone time and a work out in Sunday afternoon. DH has only been home 2 days in the last 10, I am in need of some relaxation and alone time, especially since the girls were on spring break last week, were together at daycare and have been at each other's throats lately.

Not only is it good for your husband to bring the kids to FL, it's good for you, too!  You get time to yourself so I hope you use it to pamper yourself. I also think moms can be more controlling so it's good for them to let loose.  Or, so I tell myself.  Glad you have a new partner you like!

GR--it never occured to me to look for men's shirts but that might work. I won't go to Walmart but maybe Amazon has them.  My daughter told me to tuck my shirt into my tights. I might try that but it looks very, um, stuffed, when you're not her size. That limo crawl sounds like a lot of fun!

Karla--that article is crazy. I can see if it were Curves or for that crowd but a regular gym? But then again Planet Fitness has some really odd rules.  I put together a 1000 rep workout here and there. Let me try to remember what we did:  jumping jacks, plank row (--plank position, hands on weights, pull up right arm, lower, pull up left arm, lower: right and left arm is one rep), 180 or 360 degree jump squats, all-in-one-arms (hold handweights, do a bicep curl up, from there push it up to a shoulder press, arms straight overhead, from there do a tricep extension by bending the elbow and bringing the weight down behind you.  Reverse so bring the weight up by straightening the elbow, lower shoulder press, lower bicep curl), sneaky lunges (3 walking lunges then jump high and switch your feet), pass ball between hands and feet (lie on ground prone.  Ball between feet near ground.  Lift up ball and do an upper body crunch. At the top, grab the ball w/ the hands, lower hands and feet. Come back up again, like a double crunch, pass ball to feet and lower upper and lower body.  If you get good, you can throw the ball.  We used the heavier ballast ball), burpees w/ push ups, superman, jump lunges, bird dog.

Here's the ball pass:

Arryl--I was wondering what had happened to you. Your husband teaches sky diving???  What a fun job! Do you ever do it? Bummer about the class. I wonder if the teacher backed out at the last minute. Any way you can return the shoes?  Hope you get in your workout!

I am glad it's Friday even though I haven't worked all week. Jean, I think unitards and silks go together. You could always wear a shirt over it but it would hold things nicely. I loved when we wore tights and one piece leotard tops...back in the 80's..or maybe the 70's. I love jump suits too...although the bathroom is a challenge...FSN, I think a vacation from your family is a good thing too. Gymrat, the limo event sounds fun! Aryl, hope that you don't have to be a dance mom....and can drop off and regain that time. Karla, I guess the good thing about it still being winter is to postpone spring cleaning....I have been cooking a lot since I got home...I made corn pudding, chicken pot pie, soda bread, and Potato salad this week...I share with my trainer but I get a little of what i make and i am very pleased with my results. I watched lots of Basketball yesterday and today but I did go to the gym and lift both days. Iwas going to run one mile today but my favorite Zumba instructor said hello as I was finishing up lifting and I realized there was a class in five minutes, so I did that instead. I got. A flyer for a gym opening between where I live and where I work that is opening. They are offering $1 to join, then $10 a month plus $50 a year to guarantee the rate. They say they will have Pilates and Zumba, but no schedule is posted. I am thinking of joining because my gym's classes aren't great...and maybe I would run more if the gym were closer. My gm is closer to my house...or maybe the same, but in the opposite direction from work. It might make a nice option. Have a great weekend every one .

Jean, yes, DH has been skydiving for about 2 years now, but just got everything together to do the coaches training. He just decided a few months ago he would like to coach on the weekends. We are still in discussions about long term plans as he has a very demanding job during the summer months already and works 70-80 hours a week, and I am not thrilled with him adding in a weekend "job". I have never went skydiving no, and right now have no real desire to. Its not something you can just go do for an hour or two, its a half day, all day event usually and with two small ones, my priorities are to spend as much time with them as I can while I still can... I did find them another dance class and they love it!! I need to see how far away the other Y is from there, the studio is on a very busy street, I probably could go and walk one of the neighborhoods around there, but I'll have to see. I'll figure something out to bide my time during their classes. LOL Happy, I have already been "a gymnastics mom and a cheerleading mom", dance mom would fall right in line, but definitely not one of those over the top, PITA, only want attention ones.

It must be frustrating dealing w/ the home front while your husband does all that!  Staying home w/ children is rewarding (I wouldn't have changed it for the world given how quickly they grow) but so relentless, especially w/ a spouse who is gone so much.  I always wonder how ski instructor spouses do it--most work tough full time jobs and are gone all weekend. But, at least it's just one season!

My daughter dances and I've done the dance mom thing and I'm terrible at it. I can't do hair, make up and I really don't care about whether all the girls look the same or have cute costumes.  I was so happy when my daughter started doing it herself!
