Wow...very little rain this week means that I should water my potted plants, but I think it is supposed to rain this afternoon.  Work today, travel to see mom this weekend.  I have to work with my manager on Monday and Tueday, and with the issues surrounding my mom, I am not seeming to care.  It's interesting to see what the mind does when it forgets - making up stories that seem to make sense and sound good.

My massage therapist said I swam too much, and my entire right upper back was LOCKED, and I could feel the pain associated with it!  I should google the muscle response to understand more.  But, thank goodness for those massages!  I opted out of yoga last night to watch the first Extant episode.  So many questions!  I wish there was more to watch, but I guess that is the point.

Lots to do to prepare for the journey and work next week.  MAKE IT A GRAND WEEKEND, EVERYBODY!

FSN, happy to hear that you got a massage... I'm sure you were well overdue.

I'm seeing my client this morning and going to a jewelry class with two girlfriends tonight.  I've got work this planning and planning to do a strength workout this afternoon.

I'm a bit tired today. I got up early and ran 4 miles this morning. My achilles is still just a little sore but it seems to be getting better. I'm trying to be cautious and work it out slowly.

Boy what a night I had! I was at work at the pawn shop yesterday late afternoon when my husband calls and says "Karla, I've had an accident and I'm hurt and I think I am fainting." Then he hung up. I was in the middle of a huge transaction and the only one there so I called my daughter to get over to the house asap and call 911 if she needed to. She calls me minutes later and says, Dad is conscious but he looks to be hurt bad and he is refusing to go to the hospital. He had tripped over a board while taking the lawn mower out of the shed and landed on a horse shoe stake. It did not go through him-thank God. So, when I was done I left work and went home to check things out and when I got there he looked a little pail but was sitting with an ice pack on his back where he had landed on the stake. It looked terrible so I told him he needed to see a doctor. We argued for about an hour and finally I got him to go to the urgent care center. Thankfully there was no one there so they got him in fast. X-rays revealed a cracked rib by his liver. We had to wait for a specialist to view the xrays to make sure there were no bone pieces that could stab into his liver and they determined that there wasn't, but told him if he feels any sudden sharp pains to go to the ER immediately in case they missed something and a peice of bone stabs his liver and he starts to bleed internally. Nice. Ugg. Today he is very sore but managing to get around. Just in time for our beach vacation next week. He insists he still wants to go.

I have some long runs planned for this weekend and I am going to experiment with some refueling options. Anyone else have any exciting plans?

Oh, Karla.  Men are so stubborn, aren't they?  Glad he's okay.

Many years ago, when we were still in college, DH nearly cut off the tip of his finger.  Our bathroom looked like someone was murdered in there.  I remember him sitting in a chair saying "I'm fine.  It's not a big deal."  BUT HE WAS GRAY.  Gray.  So I insisted on taking him to the hospital.  Sheesh.  Stubborn bastards.

OMG!  He is so lucky!  I hope he takes it easy!

I, on the other hand, have a dh who is constantly going to the urgent care for chain saw accidents and the like.  BUT, he is stufforn too - case in point, after the chain saw incident, the nurse explicitly told him to NOT finish up what he was doing when he got home.  Guess what he did as soon as we got home?!

Karla, funny how your husband called you instead of 911...and FSN, the fascination men have with chainsaws has always fascinated me...there is no problem they cannot solve by either taking a door off its hinges, using a bungee cord, or getting out the chain saw....I have never done any of those things. Coming back to yesterday's tattoo question...insometimes watch 'choose a wedding dress' shows, and I always think that tattoos 'spoil' the look of a dress, and I have to remember that the girl probably likes how they look. The trainer I work with has big tattoos on his arms ( if he has them other places, I haven't seen them). One time in a general discussion, he said very definitely 'SJ doesn't have any tattoos' and I said 'that you know of' and the look on his face was priceless. In year's past, I've said 'if the Celtics win the NBA. Championship, I'll get a shamrock tatoo'd on my shoulder but so far, it hasn't been necessary! GR, have fun making jewelry! Nice to say 'I made it' when you get compliments....I am on the bus (again!). I lifted thus morning, with my usual bike before, abs after...I could have gone to Zumba afterwards but decided to get the earlier bus. One week from today, I will wake up on an airplane on my way to England on my way to France. I've started lists of what I need to pack, and arranged for international cell and ipad access...

ROFL SJ! My husband has taken doors off hinges, uses bungee cords for everything, and has two chain saws... one of which he even used to hack through a door once. LOL!
