"A scene in the fantastic film Enough Said made me laugh out loud and cringe simultaneously. Julia Louis-Dreyfus' character tells James Gandolfini's character she's going to buy him a calorie book, and he flatly responds, "Please don't." I've witnessed many couples engage in this kind of exchange, and it's never pretty. It's also not at all helpful. Becoming a food cop typically won't help your partner lose weight, and it may even trigger them to eat more."

Have you heard any of these from your SO? Or even from family/friends? Who is the food cop in your life?

I honestly don't have one — I play that part quite well on my own. :(

My husband told me "If you eat what I eat, you'll lose weight." I replied, "If I eat what you eat I'll weigh what you weigh!" He has never had a weight problem but he weighs more than I do!

Oh my ! I am the food cop in my family. I'm sure my parents and sisters hate me pretty much for that !Frown

My husband is another story  though. He was a pretty fat man a few years back and now is a body builder. He doesn't foget to thank me when people praise his muscles and allCool.

I had an argument over weight with my husband the other day because he was lecturing me — ME! The one who thinks about food every minute of every day and how I can't eat this or if I only eat a little bit of that! — about various food. He is overweight but has recently lost about 25 pounds just because his position at work changed and he's moving more. Has nothing to do with the bagel and cream cheese he shoved in his mouth while sat there drooling! :(

LOL! I'm a food cop for myself, and for other's in that I'll comment, "Ugh I wish I could eat that...." and so on.

My DH is about 25 lbs overweight and I can't stand it when he gives me diet advice. I majored in biochemistry and know just a little bit about nutrition...he thinks the best way to lose weight is just to replace some of your evening chips with a beer. :P
