How much cheating do you do on cheat day?

I've never really done cheat days, but I've been leaning more towards them as I get stuck. But I'm curious, how much cheating do you guys actually do on cheat day? I'm not saying "let's eat 3000 calories!" but do you cheat on ONE thing or do you cheat throughout the day?
Weekends are really rough for me. One day I'll do good, but I always manage to succumb on the other and just cheat away. (Which is also why I'm leaning towards a cheat day...) For example, I went to the movies on Sunday and had a large popcorn (though I'd say I probably ate about ⅓ to ½ of it, my mom ate the rest) and then we went to lunch and I had a hamburger and some fries. A total cheat day.
Really looking for your thoughts on whether this can be damaging or a good thing - to go off "diet" for one day a week.
